Im extremely critical of Pearce but..

If the dragons can win a comp with Hornby at half ( avery good footballer but hardly will be recoginsed as a great half)..then Pearce isn't that bad.

Go through any of the last 10 premiers and not all of them have the ebst half or 5/8..

We just have way too many ball players and need more work rate players in the centre.

As noted elsewhere...the balance is all wrong.

Braith., Maubs, Frankie in the back row is not enough mongrel for mine. Myles is the only work rate player we have.

I would'nt play Pearce at hooker, cant see him making forty tackles per and watch him being mugged by front rowers taking turns at him all game long, with little opportunity to exploit his strong kicking game and good vision. I doubt Friend would succeed at half back, he lacks pace and he does'nt have the goods as a play maker. watts will make a huge difference to our ruck with strong defense and clever attack out of dummy half always looking for support players.

Friend seems to be the current workrate player IMO, which a hooker really shouldn't be.

Hornby is very average but has one thing Pearce has yet to be able to demonstrate on any consistent basis and that is composure.. Without this we will not be winning premierships..

No doubt we're best when Pearce plays direct and Carney feeds off that but it seems like Pearce has instructions or has got caught up in all the creativity bullshit. People talk about go forward but I wonder if having Anasta on the fringes is forcing us to play with too much width.

Actually in most scrums these days, players from any positions pack into the scrum. Why do they bother picking second rowers, locks etc. Fullbacks, centres ...anyone packs into the scrum now ....... and the number 9's are often packing in at lock to pick up the ball from the scrum ...even the halves these days dont retrieve the ball from the srcum base.

I think Jake played all his junior footy at 5/8. It was when he went to the roosters he started playing hooker. He can put players through a gap we've seen it this year and also last year. Not a bad call I think if Todd is injured. At least wait until Watts is back so Riddell can stay on the bench or at Newtown.
