I believe conn deserves to be there as JWH has the aggression but has never had the numbers to be there over conn. conn was the form forward in the final series and out played JWH in the trials.
Hard choice,
Last year conn was prob the most consistent forward in the team was perfect coming on for ryles, is quick very strong and has a good offload
And I think everyteam needs an aggressor and jwh is ours. I don't think we have seen he's best footy yet but I'm sure with week in n out consistent footy with game time he will start to prove he's worth..
When team is fully fit that last bench spot will be very hotly contested
IMO forward pack should be
8. Ryles
9. Friend
10. Fpn
11. Myles
12. Maubs
13. Anasta
14. Riddel / watts
15. Kennedy
16.
17. Mose / conn / jwh / symonds ( 2 of them in and 2 out )
I'd pick JWH over Conn probably. I keep forgetting that he has only played 25 games, and mostly from the bench. Give him time and he will come good. Worst case is we pick Conn, who is no slouch either. It's just a matter of what the team needs and who is best ready for the side. If we aren't getting enough out of our current pack work wise, then I'd drop Masoe or JWH for Conn. If we are getting enough, then it's a matter for Conn - or any other forward for that matter - to fight his way into the side. It's a good position to be in.
What's even better though is that these guys are going to be fighting for Ryles's and eventually Anasta's spot when he retires/leaves respectively. They won't be around forever, and if they are good enough and fight hard enough then there is a spot in the starting side for them. It's their call who gets it, and that time starts now.
