  • conn vs JWH

I believe conn deserves to be there as JWH has the aggression but has never had the numbers to be there over conn. conn was the form forward in the final series and out played JWH in the trials.

    Thoughts?

Jared over Conn all the way.....IMO

Jared gets a little ahead of himself, but when he settles himself he is more than capable of doing his job.....

I like Conn a lot and I think there could be room for both of them in the side, but if I had to choose, JWH every time.

I think Conn should be there. because he can play both positions. Its out of JWH and Mose for the one spot in my opinion!!

Another thing is, are the coaching staff really going to send a New Zealand international to the Jets?

If its good enough for Anthony Minichiello......

I dont think that would really bother Brian if he thought the need arose....

Mini was coming back from an injury though.

Very true, but I still dont see Brian as the sort to suffer someone just because of the position they have held....

He seems like the sort of guy that the guys do what he says or else......

JWH was catapulted into the NZ squad... how much NRL had he played when he was first selected... bit of NYC for Manly pretty well?

                        Hard choice,
Last year conn was prob the most consistent forward in the team was perfect coming on for ryles, is quick very strong and has a good offload
And I think everyteam needs an aggressor and jwh is ours. I don't think we have seen he's best footy yet but I'm sure with week in n out consistent footy with game time he will start to prove he's worth..

When team is fully fit that last bench spot will be very hotly contested
                        IMO forward pack should be
                        8. Ryles
                        9. Friend
                        10. Fpn
                        11. Myles
                        12. Maubs
                        13. Anasta

                        14. Riddel / watts
                        15. Kennedy
                        16.
                        17. Mose / conn / jwh / symonds ( 2 of them in and 2 out )

I believe JWH has unlimited potential.
But have been a little disappointed since he came over to us.

The Conn-man exceeded my expectations last year. A pleasant surprise!

Over Manly way, they are more pissed off that we signed Tasi more than JWH.

                          The future is looking good.
(JWH/Tasi/Cordner/Symonds/Mose and our next rep player Kennedy)

At the moment, the Conn-man before JWH.

                          Crikey.

I'd pick JWH over Conn probably. I keep forgetting that he has only played 25 games, and mostly from the bench. Give him time and he will come good. Worst case is we pick Conn, who is no slouch either. It's just a matter of what the team needs and who is best ready for the side. If we aren't getting enough out of our current pack work wise, then I'd drop Masoe or JWH for Conn. If we are getting enough, then it's a matter for Conn - or any other forward for that matter - to fight his way into the side. It's a good position to be in.

What's even better though is that these guys are going to be fighting for Ryles's and eventually Anasta's spot when he retires/leaves respectively. They won't be around forever, and if they are good enough and fight hard enough then there is a spot in the starting side for them. It's their call who gets it, and that time starts now.

It's definitely a luxury to have this head ache in the selection of forwards

                              Imo Conn > JWH

but against the Souths pack id choose JWH.
