  • Brian Smith at halftime in GF

Hi all, as some others have said before I am a first time poster long time reader.
I want to touch on a few things. First of all is I thought Brian Smith did an outstanding job for us this year, but 1 thing I noticed and I really didn't like was seeing him on his white board at half time in the grand final. I am no coaching expert but to me I believe it was just complicating/over thinking things and maybe a reason why they were flat for the second half. You just don't see Wayne Bennett doing it. I don't know if I am reading to much into things but I would hope that when the Roosters do their review on the season that is looked at.

Another thing I want to touch on is how sad & pathetic souffs supporters are for spreading ****ing bullshit rumors about the Roosters such as certain players of ours leaving. For them to do such crap just proves that they are threatened by us and feel like they have to resort to such ****tard measures in desperation to try and destabilize us. Wake up ****wits, not going to happen and your just wasting your and our time! I would not be caught dead going to a souffs site and can't believe that they come on here, **** they are a joke!!!

Also the supposed loan of Cherrington to Harlequins is bullshit from what I have been told by someone who is in the know. Why would the Roosters do that for?? Cherro will be in for a huge season in 2011 and the Roosters will want to fully cash in on that! When people come up with their 17 for the Roosters next year, I notice hardly anyone has Cherro in them. I would think when he gains match fitness again that he will be on the bench. I am so bloody excited for next year and can hardly wait. Just to think that for the first half of the season we were quite inconsistent and threw away a fair few games and still ended up only 3 wins off the dragons. We will be a better side next year and if we play anywhere near our best can easily end up with the minor premiership. One thing is for sure, if we want to go all the way we have to finish top 4, preferably top 2.

Without knowing what was said. I don't how do you conclude he overcomplicated things ?

Personally I don't really care if a coach uses a whiteboard, blackboard, tv monitor or even a post it note ...so long as he thinks it will get his point across !

This had more to do with them appearing flat than any white board usage.

Fair enough you think that way. What I am getting at is that I watched Brian doing all his scribbling/doodling on the white board, and I just feel that in particular our forwards minds would be wondering off a bit. I don't believe watching someone drawing away on a white board would be to inspiring. I have never seen Bennett do it in the big games, nor Gus Gould in SOO.

Brian seemed to be traveling real well through GF week, but imo I think he felt the pinch a bit by first of all selecting Paea in the starting line up and then with what he did with the players at half time with them coming out flat.

I agree with JT that the 25min halftime break was an utter joke. I just want to raise the point about Brian at halftime in the GF so that he might have a think about it and see what he could do better for when we make the big one again next year!

Would some a4 paper and crayons been better???

JT is correct the War and Peace half time break contributed as much as cockgobbler archer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the half-time break was the same for both teams. Blaming the ref, oldest excuse in the book. How about blaming a team lacking in discipline? The Roosters were the team to give away the most penalties all year, hardly surprising nothing changed in the GF.

Smith should have spent more time fixing an obvious and basic chronic problem like that, then worrying about his whiteboard.

All when and good if the rules are black and white, but they're not unfortunately!
Each referee gives penalties at their own discretion. Very suss indeed!

Without a doubt we had discipline problems, but it was very telling that every team seemed to be on their best behaviour when they played us.

One had momentum and was clearly on top, the other treading water and needing a lengthy spell, i will let you make up your own mind which team was which

Half time often benefits one team over another. That's footy. I'm just ridiculing the notion that the break went longer to deliberately benefit one team over another, rather than it went longer because it was the Grand Final.

Stuff like the helicopter etc was planned well in advance, it could just have easily ended up benefitting the Dragons. Or are you suggesting it was all hastily organised one minute before half-time? Or on standby depending on who had the "momentum"? I've heard some ludicrous excuses for a loss in my time, but the half-time conspiracy thing takes the cake.

Geez that whiteboard taking up all his time, who woulda thunk it.

Talk about ludicrous statements that one's laughable.

The point being you can have all the fancy tactics/plays/analysis you like but if you continually give away dumb penalties it counts for nothing. It should have been addressed and fixed early in the season when the problem became apparent.

You sound like a turd, 4 inch.

The roosters also received the least penalties of any side this year. How does a coach fix that problem dickhead? How does Smith coach the side so that the referees pick up the other sides infringements and penalize them just as much as when they play teams other than the roosters?

Roosters were rooted sideways and backwards by the refs all year, then in the decider the half time score was 14 nil roosters but for the blatant rorts by the officials.

                              Just **** off.
