  • Brian Smith press conference

I hope Brian Smith is spinning the media a totally different story to what he is telling the players, he spent the majority of the press conference saying how competitive the team has been but it has been the interpretation of the 10 metres and the ruck that has been costing us, please Brian its time to make some hard decisions, clearly we will be lucky to make the top 8 this year and its time some of the younger outside backs are given a chance to see if they have a long term future in the club.

below is a link for those interested in hearing the press conference.

i think he has a point to a certain extent. The thing that sways most games against us is penalties. We seem to be able to get on top of opposition packs in the grind but then it takes some damn refing blunder to give the other side a sniff and put them on top which serves to only furstrate the side into errors etc. The dragons game is a classic example where when the ref stayed out of it, we had them on the ropes. I think we have been well below par since pearce has been injured but a more even penalty count and less shit decisions against us would change the complexion a lot imo. Momentum swings caused by refs against which happen week in week out give the players every right to be shitty and subsequently force passes out of frustration leading to errors which loses confidence compounding the errors and making the prospect of giving up more appealing.

I think he is playing the media and that is a hallmark of good coaches.

When your team is playing shite, the coach should do everything he can to deflect media attention away from the playing group.

In the dressing room, however, he ought to be giving them a grilling.

Somehow I done think that the dressing will as easy going as it was the last couple of years after a loss. The Footy Show showed the dressing room after the loss to the Dragons and Smithy said exactly what he was feeling and left the room.

Smithy is spot on. I spent much of the game thinking the Knights players were covering the 10m like sprinters. It was closer to 5m than 10m. With the amount of injuries the knights had we should have run all over the top of them in the last 10mins. But ultimately neither team could attack and the game was decided by kicks behind the defensive line.

And Badger is a waste of space.

                momentum changes

                blah blah blah

we're basically a reserve grade side

blaming refs and the like illustrates delusion

Who said that smith is blaming the refs??? Did smith come out and say "i blame Badger and the other bloke"? No

He is pointing out the deficincies in the system that are the Current refs.

What smith says to the players is behind closed doors but i can hazzard a guess, he would have told them exactly what he felt.

As to the media.......nothing wrong with playing them like fools. I mean Rick Stone did it the week before, and got the 50 50 calls this week.

Geez Mario, how old are you?

Yes, the fans can vent, my point was that anyone who can't see that we have a B Grade side and chooses to blame referees is deluded

I think even the deluded ones can now see we are a reserve grade side.

I give the members of this forum more credit than you do, like vasco said, even the "deluded ones" (your words) know the team is playing poorly.

But does that excuse the referees from sub par adjudication of rugby league?????

I am beginning to get mighty pissed off that this troll from the gutter press keeps referring to Roosters as US....

He is not and never will be a Rooster fan so either keep it in context or **** off......
