Morts would be a good mentor. His a good person who has some great attributes and would be able to mentor young kids coming through and give them helpful pointers.

If i was a club who needee a 5/8 i would go for mortimer. His too good to be just playing 20 mins a game.
Absolutly right,i will be suprised if morts is with the club next season. He has a get out clause in his contract and given his form last season he will get offers imo

He'll be here in 2014 and most likely 2015.

We wouldn't re-sign him to let him go four months later.

He is a contracted player mate but he does have a get out clause in his contract if he is offered a first grade halves spot at another club and i reckon he will get that offer.

He was offered it last year and chose to stay. With people like Sonny at the club and the winning culture we have now, you'd stay here and be in the running for a premiership rather then go to the Eels or the Raiders and get more money but lose every match.

Yeah maybe your right but,hes won a premiership ring now and the lure of a starting half backs jumper might be very tempting

yeh I can see morts leaving the gf winning roosters to go join the eels again or even merge, just so he can get a start as a 7 or 9.

why are these guys playing footy, to win a gf of just to play 80mins week in week out.

each player has a job, and when everyone does their job properly ...success....

Morts has a great attitude towards training, doesn't he? That'd be how he would be good for Horrie jr. Passing on his good work ethic.

If he did leave Nafe would be a capable bench player. And Morts wouldn't let down whatever club he ended up representing

Comes down to what motivates an individual.
It was publicised that Maubs chose to stay rather than play for Saints for more money. Other players would have taken the more money option. Most players only have the capacity to earn good money for 10 years so fair enough if they decide to go for the money, especially after they have already achieved the ultimate goal of premiership glory.

Morts has earn't the right to choose his future

I wish him the best whatever he decides

he now has confidence a trait that comes with success....ask Pearce

JT will also spend time with young Hastings.

If Hastings has a red hot go and puts his mind to it, he can make his first grade debut at state of origin time when Pearce and Maloney are playing for NSW. That possibility should make him strive hard as an incentive!

If he performs really well, after that who knows he may even get a bit more opportunity in first grade through the back half of the year. Strong competition for spots could see Morts take his game up to another level with feeling the heat from Hastings, which is exactly the sort of thing that the club wants to see happen!
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

                          Isn't he 17 years old?

No chance he'll debut in 2014.

With the squad we've got it would take a catastrophic injury toll for Horrie Jnr to make his debut next year..

I'd like to see him play a bit of 2nd Grade though..

TS he turns 18 right at the beginning of next year on 4th January. Plenty of the elite talented players have made their debut at 18, so he has to be some chance for next year.

I just want to see that carrot dangled in front of him to spur him on, with that opportunity of when the time comes next year when Pearce and Maloney will be unavailable due to origin. He may very well not get a look in if Seluini is playing well, and Robbo decides to do exactly what he did this year as it did work very well with SBW at 5/8th, Morts at 7 and Seluini on the bench.

At the very least he is driven to have a big pre season and ends up having a big year for the 20's, primed for contention in 1st grade 2015 in a utility role.
