i enjoy the prospects of upsetting the opposition by possibly starting a game with morts instead of jake.(lets say). IF YOU ARE A COACH you would set a typical defence or attack plan against your threats.(bbq, jnr and friend) throw in a morts curve ball,
1 how will the onfield team react , when they had a job on jakes dummy half runs(scoots) or
2 having to throw a wider pass when jake is the marker.
3 the fullback now has to questuion his position because of what morts does/doesnt do.chip, chip support sbw support runner or even just his speed in delivery of the dummy half pass on the back of a quick play the ball
like mentioned earlier a c wing type role.
morts crossed with a 9 a 7 and a 6Last edited by roosterproud; 04-30-2013, 08:53 PM.1911 1912 1913 1923 1935 1936 1937 1940 1945 1974 1975 2002 2013 2018 2019 2020

Morts has made Jake a better player
Jake has made Morts a better player
they obviously enjoy each others contribution on game day, never seen so much smiles from them, the chemistry
we talk about Pearce & Aloney
but Jake & Morts ....an untangible je ne sais quoi (for you Robbo at the next presser)"Qui audet adipiscitur"

When a player adds to your team and improves the game of players around him then he is worth every dollar. If Maloney doesn't get picked for origin then he and Morty will make a great halves pairing. And I'm convinced Morty will show up Pearce.SUPER DRAGON!

This wasn't meant to be a Morts thread but for all of those that had issues with players now playing well, Like SBW. I was hoping Filthy would stand up.

Having Mortimer coming off the bench is a huge advantage to us. He should have been given a decent go when Smith was coaching us. He is able to offer us a bit of spark. To add to the spark he adds, he is a ball playing hooker and offers a lot more than someone who can dart out of dummy half.
We should sign him up for the next few years!! He will become a valuable member of the team!! Especially if we have injuries in our halves and during the Origin period.

Morts has a good read on the game and runs well in support. This role he is playing now is perfect for him, our club may have actually saved his career tbh.
I like how our club is not only buying top shelf superstars but also recycling players who were on the outer at their old clubs and just want to be given a chance at nrl level. Never underestimate the importance of the latter in winning premierships, particularly when there is a salary cap in place. For years the swans have adapted that mentality with their player retention and recruitment and in recent times, they rarely miss a finals series.Comment of the year:

This is how we should of always played Mortimer and I have been saying it for a long time, he is a great back up/utility player.
I really like the kid he has many great qualities but not everyone can be a first grade halfback or 5/8. That doesn't mean he still can't be a good player.
I'm loving his work this year.

Thought we might hear from Rooster 6, choking down on some in honour of his comments about Maloney before he'd played a gameOriginally posted by ROC181 View PostThis wasn't meant to be a Morts thread but for all of those that had issues with players now playing well, Like SBW. "Maloney is a rushed signing"

My only issue with his signing was that it was only for one year, and the massive hole he'll leave if that's as long as he stays, and issues with trying to build a team around the marquee of all marquee players if you only have them for one season. I've never doubted his ability in the slightestOriginally posted by Salvatori Grubber View PostWhat about yours wrt SBW? Come on.

I cant be arsed digging it up, but I seem to recall you going on about his attitude and his general associated collateral bullshit (Nasser, Mundine, etc) and that you wished he wasn't coming.Originally posted by tony the wheel View PostMy only issue with his signing was that it was only for one year, and the massive hole he'll leave if that's as long as he stays, and issues with trying to build a team around the marquee of all marquee players if you only have them for one season.
