All fans get upset and bag players, coaches and officials out after an expected win doesn’t happen, you see it on here after every game but this is next level.

Where were this threats made as I haven’t seen them.
Almost certainly made by problem gamblers chasing easy money that didn’t go to plan.
The sport pushes gambling hard and should expect blow back when some lose large amounts of cash.
Miss the days when the sport was about footy instead of pleasing broadcasters and gambling agencies.

I haven't seen anything quite that bad here either, but if anyone did make a death threat on this forum to anyone (a player, or forum member), they'll be immediately banned.

They should get the same back at them as punishment - random creepy people sending them threats, turning up at their door etc.

Well I was pretty upset with them.

In the late 60s things turned nasty at the Colts' losing grand final "celebration", when a key player was found to have backed the winners. Later on the night he was shot in the leg.

Maybe someone knows something we don't, there maybe a rat?

Hi Chris. That’s great to hear and as it should be. Posters who badmouth and make repeated false statements about other members for 3-4 years straight and then in response to the facts, double down with more ridiculous blatant lies only to voluntarily ban themselves because they somehow think they are the ones being threatened should also be banned. Logging in everyday not knowing what smears or vicious lies will be written about you is not nice. Not using your name directly so as to escape legal ramifications while most people can work out who the nasty posts are directed at is also very sneaky, deliberate and vicious.

Sorry about the little rant. I love the Chookpen and appreciate all you do for this site and all the moderators do but my great experiences here have also been dampened by some not so pleasant persistent trolling and gaslighting the past 3-4 years.

there's the assumption that it wasn't a serious attack on (presumably) dce or maybe robbo but it's the kind of thing only a nutter does. it's not free speech to be able to make death threats even if there's no intent to carry them out.
social media is full of the kinds of comments that people wouldn't make face to face. it's like tooting in traffic.
people don't make death threats on here but it's oddly accepted that anyone who wears the rwb is fair game.
obviously this is a testament to the passion that people have for the roosters and not saying this is the something the mods should clamp down on but to me it seems odd

I feel some posters, particularly in the match day thread get caught in the heat of the moment and say silly things about the players and the coach. Calling them dumb, imbeciles, **** for brains and other such things. The same thing no doubt happens on all the social media apps. Some people get themselves too worked up and no doubt regret it later.
