Respectfully this seems to be a bit of a funny post. Walker has played 87 first grade games for us and has been in our system as a first grader for 6 years now, you can't on one hand say "We need to give this guy more time, it's just 87 games!" and then on the other agree with people willing to shoot DCE down after 1 game where he was average and competitive with Walker.

I understand it's sort of different as DCE was signed onto bring us a premiership and time is running out on his career but he needs time also. He's not going to be perfect in his first game.

People aren't blaming DCE for the loss, most of the blame seems to be aimed at the referee which is laughable, but DCE was shit there's no getting around it and he was brought in because he's allegedly better than Savala and would allegedly bring this experience to the team that somehow the oldest squad in the league was lacking and he didn't.

Hugo Savala and Sam Walker were 5 wins 2 losses when starting together last year with an average of 29 points scored per game but it's great we blew it up for a geriatric from Manly.
Maybe not now but on the night it seemed pretty heavily blaming DCE until people pointed out that DCE's stats were competitive with Walkers and Watsons, then it kind of slowed.

DCE is better than Savala, that's factual based on stats from last season. Hugo and Sam dominated teams in the bottom 8 and even then Savala wasn't a particular standout either. Whenever they played top tier sides they struggled.

Respectfully, your bias is abnormal and out of control when it comes to anything DCE related.

Clearly Sam is still developing his game. He's 23 years old. He has years of footy ahead of him. Mitch Moses was more miss than hit at the same age bordering on bog average. Mitch is now a top-liner!

Sam has a high ceiling with a skillset that's next level. Time and more games will help him add polish and become more selective with his plays.

From a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being his full potential, Sammy would be sitting at 4/10 at this point in time in his career imo.

I'd be curious to see where you think he sits on the same scale.

      This should be interesting.

I'm not saying Sam won't improve, halfbacks typically play their best at around 25-26 so we'll likely see his best within the next 2-3 years I just think it's amusing that we're happy to give Sam another 2-3 years to become an elite halfback but DCE is expected to be elite in his first game at a new club where the rest of the team for the most part were well below average.

On the same scale I'd say Sam is currently a 7, he's not going to become double as good as he is now but he'll improve on what he is now.

Some had made their mind up before the Warriors game and that DCE was washed up so it's not about double standards and hanging him out to dry after 1 game.

You can't blame fans for showing their loyalty towards Hugo who bleeds red, white and blue.

Here's a stat for you: your boy has never won a game of football playing for the roosters.

No blame for it but we can't just openly say Hugo is better than DCE when that is factually incorrect. Now if we want to make arguments about loyalty or development or the benefits of playing a much younger player over an older one then that's valid but as it stands right now DCE is better than Hugo.

i honestly don't think we got a good read on how he's going to go from last week. he made one bad error and didn't do anything special but always hard for a half to shine with so little ball and so little good field position.
i don't think there's a definite time frame on his value to the side. if he plays shit in the next few games then bring hugo in, if he looks likely then he'll stay.

the fact that hugo was unfit for round one is a factor. hard to argue that rodwell would have been a better option last week. if we hadn't signed dce and lost last week with hugo missing the game there would have been threads about the problems with not signing him.

ultimately we fans don't have a vote in picking the team. it's good not to worry about things you can't control and hope for the best

Doesnt change the fact he makes some very low % plays, i suspect he always will , maybe thats why robbo / nick bought in dce to balance things out? Whilst im not a fan of the dce signing, im prepared to give it time, and i dont think he was anywhere near as bad as some on here are making out

I think the drums will.be beating on someone higher up in the pecking order.

I guess Robbo agrees with you. Personally I disagree. Time will tell!

He shied away from contact against the Warriors on numerous occasions. This I find concerning!

Kurt Capewells Try. 12th minute - Warriors run a block play. 1st lead runner runs through line on Steeps inside shoulder. Steep then checks the ball runner(warriors five-eighth), Pauga checks the warriors left centre and Marky jams in to close the space and checks RTS who isn't in the picture however if you slow it right down you'll see his arm. That leaves DCE to check the second lead runner Kurt Capewell who went through untouched.

Poor read ? I don't think so as you can see by their shape that they were looking to isolate DCE. Self preservation more like it imo....

                          Well that'll change.

lol if you want to count a cameo in a trial game I guess, I’ll meet you halfway and call it 1.5 games so by the end of first half in round 10
