I like glass half full, King.

I worry as Nat offers nothing and we have no size and impact like storm and other edges with big and mobile 110kg frames
      Take your pick.

      A. N Butch estimating he's on around $500k. Solid D, offers little in attack, 1 or 2 very good games a year.

      B. Keaon Kaloamatangi $1 mill from next year. Exceptional on both sides of the ball. Delivers rep quality footy week in week out.

I'd spend the money on option B especially when Sammy already had a halves partner and there was no need to waste $500k on DCE.

      • As often said you learn more from a loss than a win.

The players will know the first half was not up to scratch plus the last 10 or so minutes of the game as well. - conceded 34 of the 42 points in that period

The match officials were poor to say the least but the loss can't be blamed solely on them.

Better to find out early the areas that need improvement and focus on - mmm there are a few though.

        It's a marathon not a sprint.

Why is the discipline so bad every year? That is something Robbo can definitely come down on.

It statistically cant be a fluke we rate the worst in errors/discipline year after year.

The finger can only point at the coach.
We lack composure and play so frantically. Always in a rush to score. You'll often see an unforced error coming 1 or 2 plays before it occurs with the set being so disjointed.

Robson is quite methodical! Hopefully he can help us find the right tempo.

              • Robbo presser - I thought he handled it well really. He's way more intelligent than the street criminals Vlandys and Abdo, and almost all the commentators/press. Which is a big part of why, along with his success coaching such a maligned, envied and unfairly targeted club as the roosters, he is so hated - and his team is consistently rorted by the match officials.

But rather than a Ricky Stuart style meltdown, he calmly but clearly stated the truth - we were on the pointy end of an "incredible" penalty avalanche, 6 again avalanche, 2 of our tries were wrongly disallowed and 2 of the brahs' no tries were unfairly allowed. And that in round 1 we weren't good enough to overcome those obstacles, but hopefully in future rounds we will be.

On the other hand, he has had a long time in this job to adjust to expecting the usual travesty of justice like we witnessed tonight. He, and Teddy, sure didn't look surprised by it all.

Webster commented in his presser that the scoreline flattered them as well.

Absolutely I never thought DCE was good it’s early days but the good thing about today is that his clock has already begun to tick and in a couple weeks if we’re down 0-3 Hugo will be back in the team but it might be too late.

This a huge overreaction to one signing.

                      • Just heard the post match presser from Dr Robbo.
No wonder the players cannot stick to a game plan , Dr Robbo is baffling them with theory and tactics . Just keep it simple

We made 2 major additions to the squad this year and both of them were high profile deals at the expense of promising young players already at the club.

I like Robson so I'm not going to rubbish that one but you can't spend an entire off season telling everyone who will listen that we are backing the youth and then make these kinds of signings and tell me we're still all in on the youth. All of these youngsters are replaceable at any given moment.

Thought what he said was pretty straight forward. We needed to be able to defend our mistakes and we didn't. He liked that we kept punching in the 2nd half and got back into the game but was disappointed with the last couple of tries. Discipine was poor and we need to improve. I'm not exactly sure what you found so confusing.

                            • Tough game. Team isn’t humming yet, but to fight back to within two tries despite the lopsided calls, the missing players and the clunkiness. I’ll take that. Granted it blew out but the boys did work hard for a long time!

we start slow. We’re going to be a bit more this year as our spine settles. DCE hasn’t shown much yet, but he’s still getting used to our system and combinations.

We’re good fam, this is going to be a great season!

Tbf Robson was signed before Ioelu came on the seen and is a huge upgrade to the cheese, and Ioelu is still young and needs more game time in nsw cup as shown tonight when he overplayed his hand a couple of times, eg the no look flick pass when we finally had some good territory.
