  • Official Trial Day Thread: Roosters v Eels

Today’s all about getting through the game injury free and gaining a little match fitness. They’ve been working on combinations all off-season and I don’t expect this trial game will showcase too much of what’s to come. Only half a game for all our stars then wrap them up in cotton-wool until the real footy starts.

And once again, remember that this is a trial and there is absolutely nothing at stake so no need to clog up the traffic at The Gap tonight.

    Kick-off 6pm.

yeah, and hard not to be looking at dce closely. a solid performance would be good. it's just a trial but we'll get an idea how long it will take for everything to click

I just want to see some steel in defense. The second half last week showed a lack of urgency in defense.

It will be hot in down town Gosford.

Southerly Buster should come through and cool things down.

Looking forward to seeing our star recruit. I wish we could see both of them but will have to wait for that. Praying for a nice workout with no injuries or suspensions.

most important thing is that they all get through the game safely.

but yes, defence and some good connection between DCE and Sam.

Because it is a trial, I would of like to of seen Bassingwaite gets some game time with the first grade crew, even push Teddy to wing/centre after 20/25 minutes from full back to help coach/guide him etc.

Back in my day, we kicked off at 3pm and Gosford was somewhere you went for a holiday. Home games were played at the Sports Ground.

Last week before kick off, Stevie Nicks came up with 'I Can't Wait' on my shuffle..For the first time in a while, I've never felt so positive about a season's beginning. Yes it's a trial and it's very hot however it will be interesting to watch DCE and how he's going to fit in, after many years elsewhere.

Here's a nice little set of photos from yesterday's training session.

Poor DCE better have a man of the match performance and at least five try assists tonight otherwise some of you on here are going to call for a public hanging.

We will beat them easily but that gives no indication of our form going into the comp proper. This is almost the same team as last year. Our halves are small with very poor defense which can’t stop big forwards rushing through. They will be targets all season. Injuries and concussions have haunted us for years and this year without a ball being kicked we’ve already lost Robson. Then there’s our errors which Robbo never gets around to fixing. Can’t see us making the top 4 but top 8 maybe.
