a lot to look forward to. keen to see how toby rodwell and bassingthwaite go in the top grade.
good to see pauga back and for junior tupou to show us what he's really got.
talau in his first game in our colours - will he push his way into first grade?
butcher named on the edge and wong in the middle might indicate what robbo's thinking is, although egan's been named at prop so maybe the numbers don't mean much.
also keen to see how va'a and losalu shape up.

Exciting. The footy’s back! So is Ramsay injured? I’m especially looking forward to seeing Rex and Toby Rodwell.

You won't be disappointed with Seve and Magele.
These two are earmarked for NRL honours

A lot of half depth with Elliot and foley not in the starting side

I did think this as well with Wong at 13 could this be him starting at 13 at the start of the year and Foketi or Nat at 11?
          let’s see
I hope lasalu and Vaa can kick off as prop we are a little shaky on
looks like makatoa might not be back?

            I hope so
as we lost Vaa, Seve and lavakeiou from last year but we need these guys to stand up soon
I feel the Seve bros could have more impact with agility and pace on the nrl over the Vaa guys

I’m looking forward to watching it. Like I posted a week ago I think Nat Butcher will be in the backrow with Gus for Rd 1 if he’s fit & Egan will be off the bench.

Been playing trials for many many years and they did have a pre-season comp ( pre-season and craven mild cup etc) which the Roosters did well at in winning a few of these so nothing to be concerned about.

The players have been training pre-season so they should be ready for these trial games,

More likely than not that players will be injured in training rather than in pre-season games.

They should have a good hit out against the Tigers with the mixture side selected.

Maybe the Roosters really only wanted one of the Seve or Va'a brothers
A bit like the Mitchell brothers

I wouldn't be surprised to see Xavier back at some stage - i think the plan was (i'm only assuming) to get away from the rigors of week to week NRL training and recover from injury/concussion worries but still have that experience playing in a pro comp against men.

This is on the assumption that the York Knights don't train as hard as the Sydney Roosters....

By all accounts Wakefield had him signed but then pulled out once they realized he is 1x concussion away from a 3 month stand down - https://www.seriousaboutrl.com/york-...n-call-112217/

Just checked out the Tigers trail team on Foxsports. I reckon our Jersey Flegg team would pump em.

I'm really excited to see Rex and Toby Rodwell and have fingers and toes crossed that Va'a is both healthy and fit.

                                Some maybe lesser hyped players to keep an eye on;

Jackson Stewart - Played mostly fullback last year due to Rex's injury but more naturally a centre. Beautiful mover, good upper body strength, strong left hand palm, likes to carry the ball in two hands and stand defenders up, similar to how Joey Manu used to.

Jackson Allen - $1.01 for the diminutive dummy half to sit someone on their ass in defence at some point when he gets on. If he gets a chance to scoot his speed is electric. I know this forum loves a running dummy half, I think this kid will excite a few if he gets minutes.

Kanaan Magele - young prop with a good engine but what impresses me most is how well he does on both sides of ball. Takes tough carries with good yardage but gets through a mountain of work in defence too. Has a bit of a screw loose too, I reckon Robbo will love him and he's my outside pick to debut this year. Not part of the train and trial contracts but post Round 11 I reckon he might get a couple of games off the bench.

Lui Lee - Will go back to SG ball after this game so don't think he's any chance of playing first grade this year but relation of Edrick and Brenko. Big aggressive centre with a great left foot step. Will be lots of fun in attack if he gets good minutes.
