But it'll be ok if Benny does go, because we're chips in on Robson. Right? We've paid $750,000 a year for him for 4 years. Must lose up and comers when you pay those numbers, for a hooker. And Connor Watson as well has to be paid.

Any club looking for value will snap Benni up in a heartbeat. And we'll be the loser because he's the best player of the 3 of them.

We must spend 97.5% of our salary cap. If we don't sign a few proven stars we will end up with a side full of inexperienced and overpaid players.

Robbo doing the right thing signing the best defensive hooker in the comp. Benny only leaves if he ends up being a dud or gets too impatient.

mmm Jaxson Allen is another up and coming dummy half who has come through the pathways and captained the premiership winning Sydney Roosters SG Ball side in 2025 plus played under 19's SOO for NSW - Re-signed until 2028.

The Roosters have a lot of talent coming through the pathways and academies -both Men' and Women's - Sydney and Central Coast Roosters plus Ipswich Jets partnership and the NZ Roosters academy.

Sure they will not be able to keep them all and some may not make it as players in the NRL/NRLW but the Roosters future is in good hands going forward.

Batemans I think it’s time to let this one go
no one has agreed with your idea of not signing Robson a SOO player to keep a superstar with several nrl games
yes he has talent and potential but a long way off being a premier hooker at the moment

Robbo, Nick the assistant coaches & recruitment feel we need Robson so Im happy to go along with the guys who matter. If you ever get up to Sydney to a game go & see Robbo & tell him that you dont want Robson & Cherry, I would like to hear his answer.

Yeah the club gave a 4 year contract to the current NSW 9 and he will play second fiddle to a rookie it makes sense

"Potentially"? Potentially it might also give us less of a "premiership window". DCE = one top four finish in his last 10 seasons. Number of comps won in 10 years = zero.

                      "Potentially" means nothing.

Finally dropped from Origin last season, at the age of 36, when there is barely a challenger for the Qld halfback position (Sam will be the next). Manly couldn't see the back of him quick enough. They'd know him better than anyone. DCE has no upside. Only downside. Hugo and Sam are the ones with all the upside. But you also think Hugo is "overrated"? You don't like the signing of DCE, and Hugo is overrated.

Lots of words, hard to agree with any of it though. And seriously Rodwell is a junior in no way proven at senior level. DCE is, and Hugo is. And Sam is. If you're basing our future in the halves on an unproven junior you might have seen play once, you're kidding.
so Rodwell isn't proven at senior level yet? thanks scoop!

Yes, I think Hugo is overrated by this forum. I like him as a player - he has a good kicking game and a decent defense and his passing is good. He's not a game or defense breaker and I don't think he's a Premiership winning half and I think his future will be as a 13 or bench player. But I am happy we re-signed him. But there are posts I read on here wanting to pick him over Sam and that is ludicrous.

Well BBR, we’ll have to agree to disagree. I don’t believe that Robson will lose his starting 9 role for Benny anytime this season (on form, not injury). I think Robson will prove to be one of our best signings since Teddy.

For what it’s worth, Brailey had a breakout season in ’25 and was definitely the form NSW hooker at seasons end. He’s 180cm & 80 kgs. A “small body hooker” indeed … 13kgs lighter than Robson, at the same height. And in a strange coincidence, he turned 27 late in the season. Who would have thought that was possible?

I hope you're right. I'll be more than happy to be wrong about him, and if he's killing it early next season I'll be the first to come on here and applaud him and admit I was wrong.

On that logic, no signing is ever queried or discussed, even on a fan forum, because the club signed player x and they're "the guys that matter".

And if you question any signing, what you must do is go and physically front the coach in person, and put it directly to the coach, in person.

Mickie, you're a riot. Should I ask him about Dom Young and Brandon Smith while I'm with him? I'll probably only have a minute or 2.

Won't have time for Dale Copley or Corey Allen or Jaxson Paulo or that shit pommie winger Hall? or Jackson Hastings or the other Nikorima or Momirovski. I'm sure there are other poor signings I can't recall. I love Robbo, he's the best thing that ever happened for the club, but no club gets every player signing right.

bbr's the fairest poster on here. he gets angry with everyone equally.
hey bbr, are you this rigid when you punt? surely the basis of sensible punting is to look for probability, not certainty. would you take a bet of us not winning the comp and robson being a fizzer if it was paying 1.10?
personally i'm happy that robson will be playing for us this year. he's tried and tested and it frees up connor to play as a jack in the box middle. after that, who knows. benny's contracted for the next three years and if we're playing robson the full 80 it will be hard to find a spot for him in the 17

Seriously caz, rambling nonsense as usual, I suspect you might be 10+ cans in, can't even work out what it is you're trying to say or ask. But I'll try.

Would I bet on us not winning the comp and Robson being a fizzer, at the odds of $1.10? That says us not winning the comp and Robson being a fizzer is a 90.90% chance of happening. I think it's closer to 50/50. So no, I would not take $1.10. I hope that helps you out bro. You need to learn your percentages before you try and talk about betting bro.
