NSW Police have intervened in the relationship between NRL champion Jake Friend and his wife, applying for an AVO against the former Roosters player.
The former Roosters captain is due to appear in Burwood local court on Thursday for the case.
He has not been charged by police however they have applied for an AVO on behalf of his long-term partner.
Friend transitioned into a coaching role at the Roosters since his retirement leading the club’s pathway program.
He played 264 games for the Roosters before being forced into retirement because of repeated concussions in 2021.
He represented Australia and Queensland during his 14-year career.
The dummy half won three premierships at the Roosters and captained the club.
He was sacked from the Roosters in 2009 after a string of off field incidents but resurrected his career.
