NSW Police have intervened in the relationship between NRL champion Jake Friend and his wife, applying for an AVO against the former Roosters player.

The former Roosters captain is due to appear in Burwood local court on Thursday for the case.

He has not been charged by police however they have applied for an AVO on behalf of his long-term partner.

Friend transitioned into a coaching role at the Roosters since his retirement leading the club’s pathway program.

He played 264 games for the Roosters before being forced into retirement because of repeated concussions in 2021.

He represented Australia and Queensland during his 14-year career.

The dummy half won three premierships at the Roosters and captained the club.

He was sacked from the Roosters in 2009 after a string of off field incidents but resurrected his career.

However It’s a common ploy these days when a relationship is strained or breaks down and there are kids involved that a woman slaps an avo on a man. Nothing needs to have happened they just need to fear something might. It can be as simple as a man wanting soo see his kids and the woman witholding and a disagreement ensues ( I’m not saying this is the case here but I know it’s happened many times) Unfortunately It can be used as a weapon and it then gives a woman total control.

Get off your high horse He hasn’t been charged with anything. Why was it the police who applied for it not his partner Coppers love involving themself in this stuff But appear to shy away from going after gunmen leaving it to the general public

You were probably on your high horse about SKD to start with You are right none of us know the facts something I’ve already alluded to But what I’ve initially said is a known and well used play book and it does put woman back in control. The police and lawyers tell them to use it to regain control Many a good man has had this sort of thing thrown at them when having broken no law

What facts We don’t know any So far it’s they said she said.

If you don't like what Mr Walker has to say perhaps you could put forward an argument about why you disagree with him rather than just sledge.

We are all family on the Chookpen, that doesn't mean you have to agree with everyone but maybe treating people with a modicum of respect would be more productive.
