Free speech is widely abused. For Australia's Right wingers it is limited to conformity with "conservative" thinking. Newscorpse uses it to further Rupe's power and influence and seeks to suppress and distort what is unpalatable to its ideology.
I'm inclined to support a Fed Royal Commission but one would obviously take several years and on the downside, would provide our right wing media with an intermidable opportunity to distort, fabricate and, politic generally. Historically, the role of our privately owned MSM is to preserve and boost Oz conservatism and, in Newscorpse's case, to actually become the Oppostion whenever the Libs tank and seem unelectable in the short term (as they atre now). It's reaction to the current security situation is typical of their MO.
Minns' reaction is pure populism characteristic of the NSW ALP right but it is understandable. His proposed ban on pro Palestine protests will not pass the Constitutional test but it's proposal will cover his arse as far as Newscorpse/MSM media is concerned - he can rightly claim to have "done something".Last edited by Paddo Colt 61; 12-23-2025, 08:52 AM.

Liberal party should always be in power.
Trump is the best
Muslims are bad people.
Theyre just a few that come to my mind that I have interpreted from your posts over the years.
I dont care what you believe in & it doesnt make me dislike you or like you, my point is that you have no idea what the overwhelming Australians think.
The Liberal party is a rabble at the moment.
Trump is the best of a bad bunch.
Not all Mussies are bad people. Though there are plenty of Jihadis.

Bullseye Mick. Dog has very little emotional investment in the Bondi victims, living or dead, if any, His emotions and his motives are, like those of the Sky network, exclusively party political and in that regard, there a few so zealous as are working class Tories.Originally posted by Big Dog View Post

Anti Semitism, here in Oz was firmly rooted in the attitudes and policies of our Australian upper class. Jewish membership of sporting and business clubs was restricted. In the inter war years, and for decades after, the Jews of the Eastern Suburbs were banned from joining the Sydney golf club at Rose Bay. Prior to the war, our Tory government refused to accept a shipload of Jewish refugees from Nazism on the grounds that the "Oz population" would be ho
Now here we have the wooley headed and seriously misinformed ol' Dog trying to suggest that pprogressive parties are the enemies of minorities. He's been persuaded by a man whose malignant parent, Keith Murdoch was himself a notorious anti semite and the. son, Rupert has been similarly criticised for his comments on Jewish owned media. Dog doesn't know anything about that but is happy to buy into media hypocrisy, himself slinging "Anti semite" accusations about with abandon

I know that like Jax, 13, '08 and Carlo you are a right wing nubskull who parrot the clowns on Murdoch media. Classic Thucydides. He noted way back that most people believe and continue to believe, the first opinion they hear.Originally posted by Big Dog View Post

Jax has got an excuse, he's from the regions where the resident arsehats continue with the delusion that the NP represents their interests. Few of them realise they've been had so why would Jax be?
The others are WC Tories from the suburbs. In the porest of electorates, the Tories still get a substantial vote. Seemingly nobody ever told them that the ALP (Whitlam) sewered, for the first time ever, the western suburbs in which they live. On the other hand, they might have preferred unsewered, after all they'd had that for generations and you do get attached to these things.
