People, women and children have been murdered Paddo while having a peaceful gathering. Of course the media is going to report it. And the gunmen are the ones who made it political by their actions by targeting a specific group. There’s no justification for this sort of evil behaviour whichever way you look at it.

Paddo I respectfully ask that you, and everyone else for that matter, think carefully about the words you post in this thread. The tragic loss of innocent lives is mind boggling and I would appreciate it if we could keep this thread about the memory of lost innocence. I want to keep this thread open. Let's all show a little kindness. Thanks.

i don't think closing this thread would be a good idea. that would be like cancelling post trauma counselling. if people get out of line then ban them for 24 hours. this is a big. even those who didn't grow up in the area will understand that this was on roosters territory. it's going to take some time to process it.
fwiw i think paddo was tactless and made his point badly - the australian media is right to concentrate on 15 (i hope it's no more) australians murdered in australia more than 15 non-australians killed overseas but the truth is that there is some rage-baiting going on out there and while you can say that there's a minority of australian muslims who are hate mongerers, most aren't and the fact that the hero who took on the gun man was muslim is a better indicator of mainstream islam here. there are a lot of muslim cab drivers and for the most part they're good people

I agree and yes I’m angry and disgusted but I would be just as angry and disgusted no matter what the religion or race. It’s just confronting happening in our own backyard and I agree that inviting more hate and division, whether that be through the media or elsewhere is not the answer at all. It’s the complete opposite actually.Originally posted by caz View Posti don't think closing this thread would be a good idea. that would be like cancelling post trauma counselling. if people get out of line then ban them for 24 hours. this is a big. even those who didn't grow up in the area will understand that this was on roosters territory. it's going to take some time to process it.

Thank you MR, here you have interpreted my post correctly when others, blinded by emotion, did not. I was, of course, alluding to media that was quick to take advantage of the calamitous situation to further its political racist agenda, to diminish sympathy for the people of Gaza and to attempt to wallop a government that has attempted to maintain our social harmony by refusing to implement the divisive, discriminatory recommendations by the Anti Semitism envoy. Recommendations which read like they were drawn up by Newscorpse.Originally posted by mightyrooster View Post

Have you heard back from 13?Originally posted by Roosterfarian View PostWould be good to know if any other local chookpeners are safe and sound.
I messaged 13 last night but yet to hear from him. Hope all is ok..
I hope he, his family and the rest of the chookpen families are all ok.
Paddo you've made a last minute entry into the 2025 YAFI Award and I think you've nailed it on the post. FFS

I was going to try msg him on Facebook but his profile is locked. Don't have his ph number. I'm sure he will check in when ready. This is a devastating time for his community and Australians in general. Things will never be the same here.Originally posted by Inflictor View Post

From a much published letter sitting on the floral tributes:
“Choosing to hate, in any way, never made us safer.
Choosing to love, in every way, makes us unstoppable.
We, as Australians, will always choose to love, no matter who you believe, where you come from, or who you love.
And in this darkest hour, let us share the light of those lost, and release it into the sky of infinite love.
We will rise..”
We’d only still been sitting here out of the afternoon heat watching replays of Andy’s horse even up until an hour prior. So take each moment of beauty, joy and fun, no matter how small or minor you think it may be and savour it for as long as you can.
Thanks and lots of love from Aiofe, Bernie and the other United Nations our Roosters fans apartment block represents.
"Never sacrifice your class to get even with someone who possesses none. Their karma will come and if you are extra lucky, you get to watch."

Best wishes to all Roosters fans and players who are in the area. Tough times and I don't wanna make any big comments as I reckon it's way too sensitive and lotsa people elsewhere seem to be hijacking it for political motives.Originally posted by Red. View PostIt's still very tense here in the East. Helicopters doing laps day and night. Squad cars parked outside Moriah College 24/7 even though they finished up last week. Crazy times. Stay safe people.
Tragic event... absolutely devastating. There's no place for intolerance of violence of this nature in Australia. I hope the community can recover as best as possible. My thoughts are with the victims and other Bondi locals who have been impacted by this disgusting event.

Nice words Issy. The general feeling here in the East is one of absolute shock and I think it's going to take a long time to process this act of depravity. I send my best wishes to all Australians but particularly our Jewish brothers and sisters at the awful time.

Spot on there Red and also well said Izzy. I have not been able to process what went down and i don't think i will ever be able to, it took depravity to another level and something i thought i would never see in this great country of ours.Originally posted by Red. Hey Bates. Whilst you are more than likely right I would LOVE for this thread to stay open.
Anger and dissension have no place in this thread.
Support for the victims, support for the Jewish community and of course support for every Australian trying to process the horror of Bondi.
So before members of The Chookpen decides to post on here, think about the value and consequences of your words.
I wont be closing this thread but I will be banning members that continue to agitate instead of celebrate.
