Sometimes I have to check I’m not in Shanghai. As I peer out my window I can see what appear to be 3 young Chinese women walking down the rd Just to clarify it’s neither the Silk Rd nor the Belt and RdOriginally posted by caz View Postyou need to read more laozi, red. used to be translated lao-tzu. wrote the dao de jing. there's no need to be so busy. ban people for 24 hours if you want but it's not the thread's fault that people get out of line,Last edited by Andrew Walker; 12-19-2025, 05:16 PM.I respect all our moderators here. One of the reasons I closed the other thread was the harassment you were receiving.
And I don't recall singling you out rcptn.
I accept that my use of the word "celebration" was wrong.
If anyone wants to discuss the political aspect of the Bondi massacre free to open a thread dedicated to that.
Am I really asking too much?

Anger and dissension have no place in this thread.
Support for the victims, support for the Jewish community and of course support for every Australian trying to process the horror of Bondi.
So before members of The Chookpen decides to post on here, think about the value and consequences of your words.
I wont be closing this thread but I will be banning members that continue to agitate instead of celebrate.
had a lot of anger directed at me in that other thread I was called a idiot, useful idiot and terrorist sympathizer and I did not once reply in kind. I only ever referred to the Jewish once and that was in a positive light in my last post when I mentioned that some of them in Israel are against the actions of the Netanyahu government. Not sure what we are supposed to celebrate after the tradgedy in Bondi? Maybe another century for Travis Head but that seems like a topic for the cricket thread. Was I agitating?

With respect Red, you're hoping that water and hot oil mixed together would be a soothing and safe experiment. The division is deep seated! I'm surprised the thread you closed down didn't boil over soonerOriginally posted by Red. View PostOne of the reasons I closed the other thread was the harassment you were receiving.

As my good mate Smithy would say "You can always count on human nature"
I'm still hurting following the horrific events. I lived in Bondi for 55 years before moving down to the south coast. I know most of the people in the area that have been there for some time. My 2 boys and their families live within 1km of that bridge. My oldest son was lacing up his runners on his patio and was preparing to go for a run to Clovelly via Campbell Parade. I have to stop now as I'm getting very upset again. sorry.Last edited by Bates; 12-19-2025, 09:17 PM.

Bates, I understand that the division runs deep. I understand that people are angry and upset. But this event deserves more than people screaming into the void and starting conflict.
I have lived in the Eastern Suburbs my entire life and I have never felt the anger that I am processing right now.
Again, I urge everyone to think about the victims, offer support and show empathy to everyone who needs it right now.
And finally thank you Bates. I appreciate your words and the sentiment behind them.

I was 800m from the Lindt Cafe siege and I live 550m from Campbell Parade. I've just realised the same people who reached out to me then are the same that reached out to me this week. Thank you just doesn't seem enough. Says a lot about the friendships and chosen family connections we have cultivated and nurtured over the years, simply by following the same football team."Never sacrifice your class to get even with someone who possesses none. Their karma will come and if you are extra lucky, you get to watch."

I'd like to post a reply to all that, but won't out of respect for the thread.Originally posted by Paddo Colt 61 View Post
Thank you MR, here you have interpreted my post correctly when others, blinded by emotion, did not. I was, of course, alluding to media that was quick to take advantage of the calamitous situation to further its political racist agenda, to diminish sympathy for the people of Gaza and to attempt to wallop a government that has attempted to maintain our social harmony by refusing to implement the divisive, discriminatory recommendations by the Anti Semitism envoy. Recommendations which read like they were drawn up by Newscorpse.
I've a good mind to start a separate thread ...to explain to you wherein lies reality.
That could see me at risk of being banned, so I won't.
