Yes SBS is good. There’s some good stuff on there.

It was always mastered, but I only make it once a month remember.

I know who you mean but I can’t think of the name of the show now. I haven’t watched it though. On David Lynch, I agree Twin Peaks is weird as is most of his stuff. I guess I kind of like trying to work out crazy mysteries within mysteries and what the writer is trying to say about humanity. He likes to look at themes of good verses evil and does it in a very clever, eccentric sort of way. Twin Peaks was a bit of a dark satire and commentary on the stereotypical all American good guy trying to fight off evil. It ends up asking more questions than it answers which is the point but that annoys a lot of viewers too.

austin. as good as that bloke is, it's the two english actors that make it. sally phillips in particular is good.
you're not the only one who rates twin peaks. based on what was said when he died, seems like a lot of people like david lynch. i liked elephant man and maybe blue velvet but didn't like mulholland drive.

i'm not really a streamer - maybe i miss out on the latest stuff but i figure that if it's good it will stand the test of time and i'll pick it up later. my top tv series of all time are mad men, sopranos. the wire, better call saul, masters of sex, in treatment, curb your enthusiasm etc.

but if i can borrow googling from king salvo, i note that wiki says - 'Karen is a pejorative slang term typically used to refer to a middle class woman who is perceived as entitled or excessively demanding'.
were you worried that some people might think you were having a go at our female posters?
Here are some great free to air streaming sites available in Australia.

www.brollie.com.au which is Umbrella Films. I know you like history like me and there is so much old Australian stuff. There is a Bryan Brown movie also called On the Beach filmed around Bondi and one of the crooks lived in my current street...

Here is some info about Tubi also, which is completely free. I use Edge as my browser and have adblocking software installed but to be honest, there are few ads anyway

                  https://tubitv.com

I remember you and I chatting about out DVD collections during lockdown. . I gave most of mine to Vinnies when I moved including my Seinfeld box set as life's too short to cling onto stuff.

thanks for those. i'm aware of them and have watched things on brollie but haven't checked what they've got lately.
once i decided i was okay with ditching the dvd cases storing them wasn't a big problem and i don't mind revisiting old favourites

I hope Bates won't mind if I post a film recommendation in here. I've had this in my SBS on Demand watchlist for ages and just am at the end of it now. I had no idea it was Australian, let alone filmed at Bronte. It's called Long Story Short and Noni Hazelhurst makes a brief appearance at the beginning. I have no idea who the rest of the cast is but that doesn't matter to me.

                            Bronee.

I'll definitely watch that. I love Aussie and Kiwi shows!

As a grom, I'd get out of the surf at Bronee, walk up to the monkey bars and find enough money in the sand pit that housed the monkey bars for a sausage roll. Hot Sundays were exceptionally good.

And how I loved getting down to Bronee Gully at day break with my dad to reserve his favourite hut for our picnic.

That's a nice memory Bates. . I used to come to Sydney for holidays to see my grandmother and Sans Souci and later Coogee was our spot. Then when I lived in Clovelly in the 1990's, the whole family would come and visit and we'd go down to the beach on Boxing Day. Life was simple then.
I hope you enjoy the film and it was told from the male lead's point of view. I always enjoy watching shows filmed in New Zealand as well. Under the Vines was good with Rebecca Gibney and I'm up to season 3 of My Life Is Murder with Lucy Lawless as they moved production from Melbourne to New Zealand after season 1 around the time of Covid, plus Lucy Lawless had wanted to move back home anyway.
It's great that a lot of productions are done in both Australia and New Zealand, The scenery is amazing and it creates jobs. One of the girls from Melrose Place is filming Spaceballs 2 here and she is constantly sharing photos of Sydney on her Instagram. Yesterday was Waverley Cemetary and then I put that movie on where they filmed as well.

I revisted an old Jennifer Lopez movie from 20 years ago called Enough. I remember watching it with Mum in Melbourne at my sister's house, probably on Foxtel back in the day. It's on Tubi and about a woman who learns to defend herself using her wits to outsmart her abusive husband. Not exactly holiday viewing as I hate violence but love the way her character took control of the situation and learned self defence and mental toughness to turn a nasty negative situation into a positive one.
"Never sacrifice your class to get even with someone who possesses none. Their karma will come and if you are extra lucky, you get to watch."
