Your analogy made me chuckle so I looked at his post again. Nothing there to change my opinion. I think bringing Latrell or Souffs into the discussion about Robbo is absurd. The booing thing had the potential to be our rainbow jersey moment and I feel he deflected it reasonably. There are no winners in this country when arguments about indigenous issues become embroiled in sports. People tend to have very different views and the issue becomes an endless loop of an argument.

We’re all losers in this country when a man gets judged by the colour of his skin… that’s always been the case and always will be

I tend to agree with a lot of the lads re: the Latrell comments. Without repeating myself from earlier, to those questioning it... take all the background out of it where he burnt his Chooks gear, broke Joey Manu's face with a dogshot and celebrates wildly every time he plays us and strip it down to the very bare bones that it's a coach lecturing and talking down to the wider fanbase to not express their opinion of someone and that because Robbo said he's ok, then the Roosters at large say he's ok and so should you as a Rooster. That alone has nothing to do with Latrell, Robbo's 'woke' views or his tactics... that alone should piss anyone who call themselves a Roosters fan right off.

The hubris of Robinson is often times out of control and it effects his coaching decisions and therefore the results of the team. I can't reasonably deduce that those Latrell comments have had a direct impact on the team's performances because i'm not in the inner sanctum. If I was a player (sadly I'm not), I don't think I would appreciate my coach defending a bloke who has committed foul play against us but as I said, I am me and I'm not a player so who knows if that had an impact on the team morale going forward. From a fan POV alone, the fact he defends Latrell but didn't call out the blatant targeting of Tedesco in the semi is infuriating and that whole fiasco has lessened my opinion of him and therefore I will be more critical going forward (and have been) when he doesn't back it up with results.

Well he certainly has some high profile names endorsing him. Personally it sounds like he is a sports psychologist for coaches who motivates through positive thinking. Sports psychologists for players are pretty much the norm these days so there's no reason a coach wouldn't try it if they think it will give them an advantage . It may work for some and not others- just like marriage counselors. He is worth whatever anyone is willing to pay

What are you suggesting? That he is the reason that Robbo made those comments re Trell or the rainbow jersey? If anything his teaching actually entails having no focus at all on the opposition-don't talk about them, what they are doing, dont acknowledge them in any way- the focus should only be on positives about yourself and your team

Well Steggles you’re a very sensible guy… if you lost respect for him then it shouldn’t be difficult to extrapolate that others did too… including some in the playing group

I don’t see a revolt anytime soon… Robbo has a lot of credit built up with a lot of players here… but performance to a man is down across the group and nothing is changing in that regard

We can’t know the exact reasons for sure… but the coaching around our finals exit last year was some of the worst I’ve ever seen in any sport

So why would Coach Robinson's coaching come under scrutiny on that basis- the game was lost

I am interested in why you call him the "woke" coach for and what examples you have to give him this term.

It does seem that this clouds your opinion of not only Coach Robinson as a Coach but as a person and thus you are unable to differentiate between the two.

Rabbitohs star Latrell Mitchell and Roosters coach Trent Robinson didn’t speak for 12 months as the bitter fallout from last year’s Joey Manu incident drove an even greater wedge between the NRL arch rivals.

However, there was a lovely moment after full-time last weekend when Mitchell made his way to the sideline at Allianz Stadium and embraced Robinson.

They won premierships at the Roosters together in 2018 and 2019 and share a wonderful bond, but Mitchell revealed this week that the quiet moment with Robinson was the first time the pair had spoken in 12 months since the ugly fallout to the Manu clash.

Robinson was seething after last year’s highly charged round 24 game when Mitchell smashed Manu in the face and subsequently ended both their seasons due to injury and suspension.

Despite admitting at the time that “Latrell plays on the edge, and that’s what makes him a great player to watch; he’s a wonderful player”, Robinson also said he was “angry at him for the incident”.

When The Sun-Herald asked Mitchell about the hug this week, he said: “It had been a long 12 months to that point. There was a lot of feeling with what happened in the past.

“I was definitely grateful to be able to embrace Robbo and [Roosters supremo] Nick Politis for sure. There’s still a lot of feeling with what I’ve been able to achieve there, and I guess the journey I started on gave me the opportunity to be me.

“I was definitely grateful for that.

“It was nice to see him and have a yarn and not talk footy. That was the first time we had spoken. It was nice.”

Robinson has always spoken in glowing terms about Mitchell, even after the centre-turned-fullback exited the Bondi club at the end of 2019 to link with bitter rivals Souths.

Mitchell was hounded for the entirety of the first NRL clash at the new Allianz Stadium last week by the Roosters and their fans during the 26-16 loss and called for booing in moderation, which split the league fraternity.

Meanwhile, Mitchell said he was looking forward to taking on Joseph Suaalii for the first time. The teen wonder is keen to one day realise his fullback dream, but that will not happen while the game’s premier No.1, James Tedesco, is at the Roosters.

Mitchell’s own fullback aspirations were also blocked by Tedesco, but he said there was no way you could replace the Roosters skipper, even with such an exciting young prospect as Suaalii.

“You can’t replace a guy like ‘Teddy’,” Mitchell said. “He consistently does what he does week in, week out. It’s a credit to him because the start of Teddy’s career wasn’t all rainbows, and he faced a bit of adversity [due to injury], but he’s overcome that cycle and it’s awesome to see Teddy at his best.”

Tedesco said at Monday’s NRL finals launch that Suaalii had time on his side when it came to making the move to fullback.

“There’s no rush for him at all, and Joey knows that”, Tedesco said. “Everyone sees the talent he is; he’s a very rare talent and footy player. Players with that talent have been rushed before into fullback, but he’s learning his trade and is one of the best wingers in the comp.

“When he goes to centre or fullback, he’ll be the best in that position as well. That’s how good a player he is. I love teaching Joey. He’ll be anything he wants to be. It’s exciting.”

Mitchell has made a point of speaking his mind this year, especially after his return from the US, and when asked if he had one last line ahead of Sunday’s grudge match, the 25-year-old replied: “I’ll say it on Sunday when we win.”

Whatever you think of modern psychology the fellow is not a psychologist… he has no qualifications

Why would Robbo need such a man? and why does that sound perfectly reasonable to you if in your opinion Robbo’s words have no effect?

From what I understand you are correct about the gist of the whisperer… so perhaps Robbo should pay that 20K again just so he might stop talking about the opposition and instead fortify his own team and the club

1966 was the year I was born and the year we didn’t win a game, not even any of the 4 trials. The lowlight was a 53 nil flogging by Manly. They scored 11 tries which were only worth 3 points back then, so the score would have been 64 nil these days. Fortunately the season was done by the time I popped out and it’s generally been an improvement since then. The coach was a bloke called Bert Holcroft, who was also the coach in 1965, when he won 3 games and 1 draw. His win % over his time coaching the Chooks was 8.33%, so Robbo is lightyears ahead at 63.81% during his tenure.
