It was a great effort from the boys, just outplayed by a better side. Turpin out of d/h looks dangerous, cheese looks like he's ready for 80 mins, Paulo actually overshadowed Sualii looked dangerous with every touch. Great effort from Mr fix it Hutch, should be a mainstay. Victor the inflictor was a beast out there, but the young guns off the bench impressed me the most. Was hoping to see Allan and Jaxon combining on the right, but im sure that will come. Trust in Robbo, he has the team exactly where he wants them and is gonna time this season to perfection as he always does.

I have watched every game this round from start to finish. Of the so-called "heavyweights" of the competition, the Roosters were easily the worst, and furthermore were bettered by many of the teams that aren't considered heavyweights.

If you think that the worriers game next week will see a Roosters win, think again as the worries were good. As Bowie79 said, the first two points for the Roosters will arrive with the bye because the vermin scum will put a cricket score on the Roosters in round three.

Now, before I'm accused of thinking the sky is falling or waving the white flag, I've based my view on close observation of every team that's played so far and the early season form of Robbo coached sides.

Great insight from Mr. 'Jackson Hastings & Jayden Nikorima are the next immortals' Stehr.
Everyone knows trials don't mean shit.
Wrong, and a knee jerk as usual....

We were shit granted, but we were missing

              JWH
              Manu
              Crichton
              Sitili
              Watson

              +

              Radley &
Smith for large sections of the game.

We are top 6 material if we have a full squad.

              A couple of thoughts though:

              1. Walker - has to be reined in. He is playing like a hyperactive 18 year old. He needs to direct the game properly. Some of the play today was atrocious, trying too many hail marys
              2. Our depth beyond the top 17 is very poor. As such, injuries (or lack thereof) will define the success of our season, as the Whytes, Mays, Taphuas, Allens and Bakers are liabilities in 1st grade.
              3. I still have question marks over Teddy as captain. Our boys looked uninspired and daunted out there, as they did against Souths in the last game of last season. Does Teddy have the ability to calm the heads and keep everyone focussed and sticking to the game plan like Cordner and Friend did so well in the past? I'm not sure.
              4. The make up of the bench was a mistake. We got steamrolled, and as such Baker should have stayed in the 17, with Allen to make way.

First 5 rounds don't mean anything, we will have some up and down performances. I'm more concerned about the head knocks, injuries and likely suspension to Egan Butcher.

We can't leave our run as late as we did last year but we also shouldn't be writing off a season after Round 1, that was always going to be a tricky fixture.

No team played anywhere near as bad as us in round 1. Any team would have beaten us comfortably. Brandon Smith is so soft. Tires easily and is lazy. Verrills was much better. Just too many changes for the worse so this year is a no go. Maybe in 2026. So humiliating and embarrassing that we can’t play footy.

Its not been conducive with his injuries, but imo, it should be Keary that is our captain.

Watching the warm up he looks so vocal and dominantly focused. I feel like the captaincy gets into Teddys head and he overplays his hand too much.

You're right about walker. So much talent but a lot of premeditated no lookers today. And of all people, he has Cooper "the calm" Cronk mentoring him.

I'm not seeing a team that is 2nd favourite, I'm seeing a team that will struggle to make the 8. Last year we finished 6th losing 3 games we should've won. You would think that Robinson would've learnt his lesson. Obviously not.

I'll take you up on the Roosters not making the 8 if you want to bet on it?

Well....its been a very long time... After trying for 5 years to get my password reset, Im back in a way. And let me tell you I have to ask.....The whnging after a loss...the complete unreasonable whining after a round 1 loss...the doom...the gloom...the sack the coach threads.....DID I MSS IT?

Let me just say.......we need 500 Green and Red spoons pronto.

If we make the 8....... Haha that's funny. Sure we'll make the 8, but what's the point in just making the 8. How about a bet on the premiership?

What drugs are you on that we lost to a better side? We lost entirely through poor performance by both individuals and the team overall.

Of course it does not mean the season is over but the individuals (8 of them you noted) deserve no credit at all - not a single one of them played well.

I agree we urgently need an on field leader who can keep the team composed and focused. Clearly Teddy is not the man for the job as our team was out of control and Teddy lost it too giving away an intercept and bad play the ball. The team was leaderless and all the players panicked except Suuali. We can get used to plenty more thrashings this year after that debacle and the Manly display.
