I certainly hope Angus get's himself back on the field and performing at the level his salary requires.

I don't understand why we should be paying him if the reason he can't play is self inflicted.

But we have to tiptoe around all these issues in our nappy wearing world.

I hope someone is doing an investigation about his condition, how it happenned and if there is any potential recovery in the near future.

If there isn't then we should be able to use the money we paid him to get someone else.

When you are paying his wages you can arrange this investigation.

The Club pays the wages and the Club won't be making knee jerk decisions when it comes to players health and wellbeing - Employers have a duty of care responsibility to their Employees

There is no evidence at all that it is in your words self inflicted though and sadly for Angus and His Family that rumour did gain some unwarranted traction including on here.

Andrew Johns was diagnosed with Bipolar and even Winston Churchill, Sting, Brian Wilson, Buzz Aldrin, Frank Sinatra as well for instance

The medical professionals in consultation with Angus and his family will make the decision on his immediate and long term playing future and will also of course keep the club in the loop in what is a private health matter.

Self inflicted? People do not choose to be born with a mental illness.

Agreed. NRL's website says he's out indefinitely for personal reasons. Such is the nature of a diagnosed mental health condition.

FWIW a good mate in high school had bipolar (when we were 13/14) and I still feel guilty about not being there for him. It just 'happened' and I was a clean kid so didn't wanna associate with any of the stuff he started doing (while his parents were concurrently going through a divorce). I was too immature to understand his world and support him.

Still dunno what it involves but Gus has ALWAYS had it (this isn't a recent revolution as some are reporting) and he needs our love/support. Out indefinitely... as a fan all I can do is respect this and not escalate the situation by talking shyte about a guy I don't even know.

And another great post. I also have extended family with mental health diagnoses and it is not self inflicted. People can learn to live with their issues with the right medication and support. Individuals should not be stereotyped by their diagnosis. Just because you can’t see it like a broken arm or leg does not mean it doesn’t exist.

He never said it was self-inflicted. He said 'If'. I tend to agree with his post. Why does everyone feel the need to tip-toe through these sorts of issues and why does everyone think the employer has a duty of care? I'll tell you why, it's because we live in a cotton wool society where fainting couches must now be provided at birth so the pearl clutching do-gooders can feel good about themselves. Suddenly it's all about player welfare when it comes to mental issues, but on another hand, we all hear about the therapeutic benefits of going out there and being physical and active. So which one is it? Do we keep Angus in bubble-wrap or do we tell him to snap out of it, get over his dramas and get out there and justify his massive pay packet?

If everyone got paid time off work for every real or imagined ailment, nobody would turn up for work. But then I suppose that's what socialists are trying to do to the world isn't it?
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

                              • FFS how hard is it to work out. The only “evidence” that Angus took anything is a tweet by a souths supporter.

Does anyone honestly believe the NRL wouldn’t have got involved if there was any truth to it

                                it didn’t happen
