Have you actually any evidence of the so called expert driven movement because I would like to read it .In my experience though people in my life drugs and especially mind altering do nothing but harm to people with mental illness

i'm not an expert, only the messenger, but if you google lsd or magic mushrooms and depression you can read about it. the economist, a serious newspaper, had a favourable piece about it recently. from what i can see opinion is divided about whether or not the drugs are an effective treatment but it's getting some air time

Being a Bogan from The South you just don’t seem to comprehend things too well.

I have emphasised IF twice in my post.

So you think IF (once again I am emphasising IF for you as a dummy) this episode was brought about because Angus made the decision to take an illegal substance and this has affected him in such a way that he can not play and fulfil his commitments that we as supporters should not be concerned that a large chunk of our cap can’t play due to his actions? The operative word being IF.

(Maybe ask someone with a little more intelligence to explain my post to you in simpleton terms).

IF he allegedly made such a decision himself, it could be that the bipolar impacted his thinking processes in making that alleged decision. In which case he would still be getting my empathy and sympathy as opposed to being treated like a number in the salary calculations. It is also not his ‘supposed’ bipolar diagnosis. It IS his diagnosis as reported by his father.

mate it is true. Places like John Hopkins, Stanford and Harvard have major studies going on. Mushrooms recently became legal in Australia for medical purposes.

And there is the point .Would our club approach the NRL for cap relief for a player with bipolar if there was some thought that he had bought it upon himself by taking recreational drugs In my opinion not a chance

Speculating and promulgating rumours about players being signed/retained or let go is different to speculating and promulgating rumours about a players private health concerns though especially when there are non football related causes for this.

Speculation and rumours about players playing futures when coming off contract or even when on contract is part and parcel of the game

As you know even with football related injuries and health concerns (i.e concussions for an example) the Roosters certainly keep their cards close to their chests on these.

Absolutely support the guy with mental health issues. But from what we are all are hearing, he’s taken a trip and hasn’t come out of it. That’s self inflicted IF in actual fact it’s true. He may well have bipolar but that’s not new. He’s managed to function with bipolar. IF he had a trip than he’s responsible for this mess. Not having him will cost us.

Bipolar is treatable - Medications and Psychological treatment etc and people can live normal lives and continue playing top level sport as long as they stick to the program as Bipolar disorder is a life long condition

Bipolar is when an individual experiences alternating periods of low moods (depression) and high moods (manic behaviour). Some can experience one more than the other. It’s clearly a lot more complex than that but medication is required to reduce these alternating episodes of extreme depressive and manic behaviour.

I do know a little about bipolar. I have two people who I speak to on a weekly basis to check on their welfare. Both are diagnosed with bipolar. One of them is my best mate who started pre-school with me at 5 years of age. He tried to commit suicide in September last year. He is very functional, holds a very good job and despite being divorced is an excellent father to his three kids. The other guy is disfunctional and rarely leaves his house.

Despite both having bipolar, they can both distinguish easily between right and wrong. IF Angus took a recreational drug, his condition cannot be blamed.

The same as not all people with autism are the same, not all people with a mental illness present the same. I have extended family too and it’s not about right and wrong. You don’t get a diagnosis from normal behaviour. You are diagnosed with bipolar because you present with red flags and abnormal behaviour. Medication is what is needed to help an individual lead a normal life, but they will always have bipolar.

On what basis is there an assumption that he took anything ….. surely not basing it off a crazy twitter post from a south’s fan.
