so general consensus from us was
top 4
Penrith ( still bloody good )
North Queensland( last year no fluke and v good coach)
Melbourne ( caveat that with Papenhauzen fit and Christian Welsh fit) and
Roosters. ( we should improve after last year….so much depends upon Keary and the new recruit from Melbourne……I felt he was poor last year by his standards )
bottom 4 of the 8
Sharks( probably overachieved and haven’t recruited. )
Canberra. ( always there about)
Souths ( see above)
Parra ( lost a player or two and last year was probably their chance )
close to the 8.
Dogs. Obvious recruitment drive but struggle to score points.
Tigers we disagreed on this. On don’t rate Sheens like others do. New recruits are a welcome but not saviours
Brisbane.probably as athletically talented as Penrith but just don’t know how to play as a team. Full of individuals who were child superstars but struggle with consistency and sacrifice
the dregs.
Aukland. Just always shit
Manly. My mate reckons Siebold is shit house. I think Flanagan is assistant so that will help. The bloke is a see you next Tuesday but can coach.
GC. Disappointing last year. They always slip back into mediocrity
Saints. Captain Hook might get the chop this year. Money should be on him first to go. You punt your assistants then you are on life support cause you are the one that hired them and then used them as scape goats
the new Brisbane team Redcliffe. Shit roster. Old coach running the show.
Newcastle. Roster not good enough and coach seems bereft of ideas and energy
As for the Cowboys, agree the coach is pretty good. Think they had an armchair ride with the draw last year. Bigger test this year.
I think Easts' season totally hinges on Keary. One or two decent knocks and he's done I reckon.
Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

Big improvers - Bulldogs, Broncos. Both will make the 8.
The top 8 (in rough order) - Rabbitohs, Panthers, Roosters, Broncos, Sharks, Storm, Cowboys, Bulldogs.
Fall from grace - Eels, Storm. May make the 8, may not. Either way, they are both on the wrong side of the window.
The disgrace - Knights for wooden spoon. Ponga is there only hope, and he will go down being made of glass. Culture is crap. Coaching is poor.

yes Vasco. Keary fit and firing is integral to our chances.
very good player, one of the rare halves that has pace to run sideways and put the defence in two minds.
these types of players always seem to get busted and finish their careers prematurely……aka Todd Carney.
I think cause they take on the line they cop a bit.
I hope he stays fit and well.
barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

As always the key is injuries. All premiers have a great run with injures. They need to. We had the luck in our premiership years. Look at Panthers the last 2 years. No major injuries. Last year Melbourne lost their front rower and fullback early on. That really hurt them. Souths have had no major injuries either.
If we can keep most of our squad on the field we’ll be as good as anyone.

I said above it was too early to call, but after watching the Tigers last night, I think they have to be favourites for a spoon of the wooden variety.1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Wait till they put their full strength team out before making judgement. The Tigers wont come last they have a side that could finish around 8th to 12th.
