Whatever happened to the free flowing game of Rugby League? It has become a sinbinathon with the ref the main protagonist who decides who wins not the two teams playing. Our great game has become a farce and circus.

I follow different sports too such as AFL (Richmond) - NFL (New England Patriots ) -MLB (Atlanta Braves ) - EPL (Nottingham Forest ) - all have had their ups and downs and match official interpretation problems.
Atlanta Braves at one stage were going that bad that the Owner Ted Turner told the Manager Fave Bristol to take 10 days off and took over as Manager for 1 game

Can't win every season which makes the seasons they do even better

I went yesterday The game was farcical. I left early first time in my life I’ve ever left early. Not because of our teams efforts but because the game as a whole is farcical for all the reasons others have pointed out in this thread and others. It will be a long time before I go back to watch an NRL game live.
PS It was the second time I left early the other was in 1989 against BalmainLast edited by Andrew Walker; 09-12-2022, 10:06 AM.I respect all our moderators here. Past present and even future. Always have done and always will do a wonderful job.

Win or lose, and there were times in the late 80's and early 90's when that's all the Roosters seemed to do, I was a fan and of League itself. But a succession of, frankly incompetent, administrators has driven the game into the dirt. This year it's become untenable, the pride jersey fiasco, the rule changes and the suspended suspensions were the final straw. So I've decided I'm finished watching rugby league, perhaps for good.
I have other sporting interests, like the MLB and Formula 1. So I'm not going to smarting for sports entertainment, to steal a phrase. If the NRL gets administrators who have some idea of what they're doing and they bring the game back to something close to what it is, I'll come back.
I doubt it's going to happen though.
Nothing will change when there are 39,000 crowds at Allianz and the Roosters don't adopt a "whatever it takes" mentality.

TBH the Souffs fans behind me were (constantly) complaining about the fact the game shoulda finished an hour ago and that the ref was doing a shyte job. They were more passionate about criticising Klein than any of the Easts fans around me TBH.
The game of footy isn't dead. This was just a hard result under bullshyte conditions.
I'll be back next year. As noted, I reckon our 'home' needs a bit of wearing in as the signage made it look like Souffs' home once they were up (and there were no Easts chants or anything). I think the new stadium was a massive waste of money by two corrupt politicians (Ayres & Berry-jigglyan) trying to buy PR from News Ltd & Alan Jones. However, the money was wasted on us and we've locked it in for 25 years so I'm happy to enjoy it for what it is.

This match was another "circus music and streamers" job done on us, same as our finals against Manly last season when it was a penalty-a-thon and 6-again-a-thon in Manly's favour.
We're being accused of "lying down to get penalties"... apparently Trent went off like a Saturn rocket in the press conference.
So we might as well...*everybody else* is.
At least our players, if hit illegally, should 'Stay down and MAKE THEM look at it'...as Ray Hadley has been telling players for many years to do, lest the game just continue on and THEM do nothing.Last edited by bondi.boy; 09-12-2022, 01:21 PM.
