anna has not deluded herself she like easts played the game with dignity and aplomb and at times was much better than the opposition, without a mining magnate backing easts, ther disgustingly rich newspapewr owned mob was always goiung to win! the assurance thaT ALL calls are going your way is a mighty pick me up for any team!

Even though you're probably taking the piss, I agree that we looked our best in the first half. As I said after the match we were simply blown away by them in the 2nd half and things needed to go our way in the first for us to have a chance, which it didn't. Despite that we attacked up tempo more then we have all year, and actually looked like we had some sort of game plan. Perhaps we gave it all in the 1st half, then lost our gusto to continue competing in the 2nd. We all knew we'd be inconsistent this year, just gotta take it on board and continue trying to improve.

I can just see the Roosters saying "Braith Anasta will not be 5/8th in a team we run" and brazenly putting him there in the name of expedience and power lust.

Its like I said in another thread, our marquee players just aren't up to it. Pearce is an average NRL halfback, Anasta is a worse than average NRL 5/8th and Mini is the same at the back. Throw Cronk, Slater and Smith in with our bunch of rookies and we would be contenders. They are just too good at the moment.

Especially the first half.
The best attack we have showed for a while. They were trying everything to get over the line.
Nobody beats them down there but we could have easily been ahead at half time if it wasn't for blatant mistakes by the video ref and amazing scrambling defence by Melbourne.
If we were ahead at half time I believe that our kids would have had the confidence to carry it on in the second half. The usually unflappable Melbourne were rocked and they could have stayed that way.
Instead, our inexperienced young side had their heads down at half time. It was understandable because they had played so well and were behind 16-0.
Smithy couldn't lift them up and the try straight after the break really broke their spirit.
From then on Melbourne went for the jugular, as you would expect with two of the best players in history in vital positions.
I hope the boys realise that they are going in the right direction and don't get too shattered.
I am looking forward to see if there is more improvement this week.
Go Easts.
If not, that was a very thoughtful and measured post. Well done.
