  • Best Performance So Far

If you ignore the scoreboard you will realise that the game against Melbourne was our best performance of the season so far.

    Especially the first half.

The best attack we have showed for a while. They were trying everything to get over the line.

Nobody beats them down there but we could have easily been ahead at half time if it wasn't for blatant mistakes by the video ref and amazing scrambling defence by Melbourne.

If we were ahead at half time I believe that our kids would have had the confidence to carry it on in the second half. The usually unflappable Melbourne were rocked and they could have stayed that way.

Instead, our inexperienced young side had their heads down at half time. It was understandable because they had played so well and were behind 16-0.

Smithy couldn't lift them up and the try straight after the break really broke their spirit.

From then on Melbourne went for the jugular, as you would expect with two of the best players in history in vital positions.

I hope the boys realise that they are going in the right direction and don't get too shattered.

I am looking forward to see if there is more improvement this week.

    Go Easts.

The stats will probably show we played better in getting beat by 40, than we did in winning by 4 the week before
    Geez footy is frustrating ?

The 25 minute patch after Dane Neilsen's try was the best i've seen the boys go this year, a lot of second phase play and ball movement and spirited defence. They were really matching it with Melbourne at that point in the game.

The only problem was the last tackle options and not getting to the kick. You cannot build pressure by doing so and from that period they really gained more and more confidence by not letting us score and as history shows they pumped our poor team.

It only gets tougher with the Warriors next week.

Its a loss we needed for the fact that the two wins we had were played in no better fashion. a thumping brings out the best in some players or really pushes the coach to make some drastic changes in either players or his coaching style. yesterday was my most relaxed watching the chooks cos i thought we would get done 50-0 but we actually stopped them getting there and scored one ouselves. The fact that some teams have scored more points in one game than we have in 4 is a major concern. warriors by hopefully only 20 this week.

I said this exactly to Horrie Is God, who wasn't in the mood for rational thought might I add, after the game yesterday. That 1st 40 was our best performance all year. Their heads dropped slightly at 1/2 time and Melba went in for the kill and didn't take the foot off. I don't care about the hysteria some here go on with, we busted our arses but Melba at home with all the breaks were just too good.

Good to see you've swung today mate. What will tomorrow bring when the teams announced???

          GO EASTS

If the calls had been made correctly we go in to the half 10 - 6 down...... mentally thats a HELL OF ALOT BETTER than going in to the half 16 - 0 down against melbourne in Melbourne.

We can talk about the drop in attitude or sacking players all we like..... problem is, the boys don't learn from that, it just breeds an atmosphere of hostility and resentment, thats when players walk out on the club and players who we want to replace them with say "hell No, i'm not going to play at the Roosters, they are a pile of shit."

Play to your strengths, what did we do right, what did we do good, strengthen that and build off it.

Then fill the gaps. you'll find they go hand in hand, we had great go forward in the first half, build on that, then fill the gap of actually taking the right option on the last tackle.

Anywho, regardless how we spin it, it still sucks losing by 40 !!!

If we're gunna get pumped, at least we were pumped by the form team of the comp at their home ground.

We are young and we will improve.

Sorry, I'm not Anna Bligh and I don't delude myself that was anything other than a drubbing because, and I'll bold it to make it clear, we cannot score any points with our current halves.

                  The Pendulum has swung.

We will be competitive against the Warriors they aren't at their best on the road and are still finding their feet.

i switched off at half time, but from what i saw in the first half i actually have to agree

really bizarre isn't it. The opening 20-30minutes was the most cohesive we've played all year; passes were sticking (cough except Anasta), our forwards were hitting and spinning and our defensive line was top notch in keeping them in their own end for a good period. We still couldn't execute though..

The early stages of the first half were encouraging.
The last tackle play really is STILL a concern.

They hopefully will learn lots from this game.

And, it was expected to be a flogging.....and it was.

We pick ourselves up & keep going.

I watched a side scoring at will.
We should give Parra a run though
