So? None of that means Brooks would be a success with us.

Brooks would be a good signing if the aim is to finish 9th. At best.

Tigers players in general and Brooks all appear to be reserve grade standard at best.

      It's a no from me !

The bloke is more likely to get a job as a garden gnome than where the red, white and blue.

Maybe he's not for the chooks but I'd love to see how he goes in good company.

I think Grubber already stated the long term plan was Joey to replace Keary. JS to replace Teddy. Haas to replace JWH and SST. The move will just be brought forward a year.

I would prefer Burton but the dogs will do all they can to keep him not to mention all the other clubs who would love him too.

Haha laughable. A cm or 2 bigger & a couple of KGs means jack. He has no heart or brains which is the key requirement for someone playing in the Halves. Blokes like Keary & Maloney had big hearts & would go the extra mile, push themselves which is something Pygmy Brooks will never have. Also just a dumb player who makes horrible mistakes.
Will also bring a losing mentality & culture with him.

Manu will be the short term & potentially Long term 5/8 depending on kicking game. JS is definitely our next fullback but will probably become a centre 1st (wait untill you see his left to right pass & Ponga like step) if Manu doesn’t work out i would absolutely love to see Burton in our colours it would be like Fittler & Langer in the halves. Wow

I also suspect Manu will be the answer. Based purely on not using Hutch at 5/8 in game vs Panthers. There seems to be some intent there from Robbo.

Although, if we did sign Brooks it would be hilarious hearing the reactions from some of this lot.

Honestly, I think it was more of a matter of "we need Joey to randomly play a blinder in the halves in order to win this game".
I think it was specifically done because we were playing Penrith, and am pretty sure Hutch would've played there against just about any other team.

With that being said, since Joey went so well I wouldn't be surprised if he stays there for the rest of the year. I do not see him as a long term 5/8 though, personally. He's a centre or fullback for me.

Fox say Brooks to the Dolphins next year.
If Keary comes out before 1st August and says he is retiring immediately then I would take Brooks as his replacement for the rest of the year. It will cost us little and he wants out of the Tigers and they want him gone to make Doueihi happy.
Just fill the gaps needed to give us our best chance like we did with Lodge. Brooks is more a running 5/8 than halfback. He will play well in a good team that roles forward with good outside backs and with the pack we will have when JWH and Lodge play it will help our halves. He has never had that type of team around him.
I don't believe Manu is our long term 5/8 and him being there just weakens our centre position. I don't want to see Sitili at centre and Smith and Momo don't excite me either.
Having said all that I pray that Kezza comes good for one of our next two games.

With the introduction of the Dolphins, the competition for quality players has increased.

Our advantage has been Robbo and a winning culture, and it could be argued the SBW & Uncle Nick relationship was a big calalyst for this period of success.

But you are kidding yourself if you think we can just land anyone at anytime.

The competition for Burton will be fierce, and anyone assuming it'll certainly happen is kidding themselves.
It's going to be incredibly tough to land Burton as Gus will do everything possible to keep him at the dogs and a lot of clubs will be after him but I'd be going all in for him.
He reminds me of Fittler and Daley in a young strong ball running centre with a left foot step and great defenders who transitioned into legendary 5/8s. He has a better kicking game than both of them with a lot more variety.
Big no on Brooks for me he has never lived up to the early potential.

if keary goes before aug 1 i presume we'd still have his entire salary in this year's cap. would love it if we could get brooks for the rest of this year in that scenario but i don't think it's an option.
joey manu at 5/8 for the next 2 years would ease our salary cap situation a bit. joey would be playing at 5/8 for less than keary and we could get a good centre for less than what we're paying joey.

No. Only $350k max if injured in a rep game as per Cordner's final concussion.

Keary's full salary for 2022 is included in the cap for 2022 -It is only future wages on a season by season basis that are exempt from the cap if Keary was medically retired and his medical retirement was approved by the NRL - i.e last two year of his contract - wages for 2023 and then 2024.

Cords rep injury cap relief of 350 k in 2021 was a result of an injury sustained in SOO the previous year (2020).

Still don't know what happened to that 350 k (if it was spent in 2021 or not) and even if Cords medical retirement was approved by the NRL - The last year of his 5 year contract extension that he signed in 2018 is next year (2023).
