May is hardly an emergence, he is miles off first grade standard. With TKO gone next year and JWH starting an inevitable decline we could have benefited from DSF’s maturing. Young middles take years to hit there full capability, usually in there mid 20’s. DSF was just entering that zone as a 23-24 yo next year and beyond 20 games. He has size, some speed and can hit. Plus he has a bit of mongrel.
This is a poor outcome for our club regardless of Lodge.

The club and Robbo must see things obviously a different level or much closer to what we see and think. Letting DSF go and TKO leaving at the end of the season is a concern but can also mean that the opportunity for Tuku Hau Tapuha, Naufahu Whyte and Terell May (if he has officially signed) must be close. Add to our pack with the recent addition of Lodge (questionable) with younger lads coming through such as Alex Leapai Jnr, Xavier and De La Salle Va’a, and perhaps Robbo and the club think we can manage ?


We've also got Fletcher Baker and Renouf Atoni (if he is fit to play).



PS: I know that some of the above players are barely making a dent or notice in reserve grade footy ... but I'm just calling out what we've got ... I also believe we are still one more experienced prop short !

To me it’s a major issue. All those young blokes may or may not make it & have long,solid careers , but we majorly lack experience. Imagine if we do lose Keary on top of SST,then a fair bit or inexperience,especially in big games or important games. Our strength in the Premiership years was the older blokes going that extra mile,putting their heads together to defend an extra set, to slow a game down & compose things & we clearly lack that now. JWH will play reduced minutes so there will be little big game experience in our pack at any time. Don’t forget Collins missed heaps with injury,so he’s not even at that stage of his career yet. Young blokes simply can’t play 20+ games a year,with all the training & simply be as good at the back end of the season when fatigue & injury set in.
I honestly think at least 3 or 4 of the blokes listed won’t make it & some of them are only kids who are 5+ years away from 1st grade regular games. Atoni is also a bloke that couldn’t get a game at a bottom club so if he plays for us we are in big trouble. Lodge will play for us next year & the year after,that’s a certainty in my eyes,but still think we must have our eyes on someone else.

Perhaps, Haas will end up at Bondi soon... otherwise how the hell can Brisbane be under the cap and be compliant with those players plus others such as Reynolds and other origin stars ?!
