  • The lopsided Penalty count is our own fault.

We are our own worst enemy when it comes to to the penalty count. Robbo has brought it on himself.
We don’t lay down and milk penalties. This is a known fact, Robbo has taken the high ground and I support him and his crusade but nobody gives a shit, nothing has changed.
‘we miss out on so many penalties because we jus get up and play the ball even when in obvious pain because of a crusher tackle. Nobody cares,
Maybe it’s time to change tactics.

It's ironic that apparently we don't milk penalties like others but most weeks get screwed by refs with 6 agains & penalties...so in the end we lose both ways - don't play for them & don't get them = no advantage during games.

I love that warm fuzzy feeling i get telling a rival fan who's team beat us - well you won the game but we won the moral high ground.

all our own fault? refs need to be competent - the verrills, butcher and off side penalties had nothing to do with us not lying down

It ain't our fault at all.
The blame lies totally with the game managers......................they are ruining the game.

I support Robbo's stance on not laying down after soft contact however, I have no problem staying down when genuinely hurt following foul play.

Not sure Roosters laying down would achieve anything anyway. The Referees have shown a reluctance to protect our players for years. Anyone remember Brown on Hutchison last year? What about a couple of weeks back, if we replace Kafusi with JWH and Walker with Hughes is that outcome the same?

laying down doesnt always work ....Joey last year had his face smashed but had to get up and go confront Latrell before the ref took any action !

Tupou copped a blatant crusher against Penrith, got up and played the ball, and then felt for his neck as play continued. Was it noticed in terms of post game charges? Of course not. The officiating is a farce.

Not sure why it’s our fault that the referees only officiate to players who stay down, feels like something wrong with the officials and the game in general.

Used to be the case in football (soccer) but they’ve been able to shift the culture of officiating at least in a lot of the European competitions. Still happens but no where near as prevalent and you’re talking about a game whose issues around milking or diving were far greater than ours have ever been.

I understand the notion of we can only control what we can control and we have no control over the officials but at the same time I don’t see it as “our fault”. It’s a systemic failure at the highest level.

If the player doesn't stay down after a "crusher", no-one realizes anything was wrong with the tackle. That's the corner the game has painted itself into. Whether there's a penalty or not is somehow now in the players' hands ffs

You are absolutely correct but how long has this gone on for? Nobody gives a shit about our crusade.

I think after Saturday quite a few neutral fans were not impressed..and not just because Penrith are now the team everyone seems to dislike these days..still laughing at the 'boy band antics' comment in the other thread..

the not staying down when you've been hit isn't virtue signalling - they're not doing it so fans get a warm fuzzy feeling. it's a part of the roosters way and if they change it then maybe the change has unforeseen bad consequences.
if they do get together, have a talk about it and change the practice and decide to make a meal of things when they've been genuinely hit, then i wouldn't have a problem with it but if they want to stick with the current practice which was decided collectively then i don't have a problem with that either

I think there is a difference between milking a penalty or 'appealing' to the ref for one when it's not warranted as opposed to 'staying down' when you are not injured..The Roosters way is get up and play the ball ASAP and I do not see that changing any time soon..not whilst Nick Politis is in charge anyway..
