BJ played much better than Carney today imo. Dropped one cold but as BlindFreddy said he ripped in and had a go, creating a lot of opportunities. I don't understand why he isn't supported better when he is able to get so many offloads away. Thank christ he didn't give up with the offloading otherwise we don't get our first try. Like it or not, or team needs second phase play to have any chance of scoring points. We will have many more low completion rates this season cos we'll need to push it. I'll take that over last week's uselessness any day. Good to see Kennedy has really worked on his second phase. He was our best forward today for mine. I thought FPN was good during his time on the field too, especially for all the crap he gets. His vision to go short side got us our second try.

Re Carney, he will play next week. Moga won't play til round 5. Straight from the horses mouth. Sorry for the downer.
Still injured? Won't play NYC or Jets?

But BJ had a red hot go today. Pulled the finger out, was always hard to get down, for a bloke out of position and carrying a stump next to him, he had a real crack.

Carney tried hard as usual - as always, he is not a first grade winger.
BF I'm with you my friend.

And make no mistake no-one likes a good BJ more than me.

But IMO today and all 3 games Carntey had a real crack too. I believe that woeful pass may be his only mistake of the season so far.

BJ is just so frustrating. So much pootential, tries his arse off but he just doesnt come up with the goods often enough. But he's a baby and I believe he will get better so I am patient with him.

I believe Carntey is just one of those blokes who is the fall guy for fans who need to appoint blame. Problem is we have a few of those in our team. I honestly don't know what he's done to offend so many, I don't see he's any worse than anyone else we have.

FFS Mini is horrible on a weekly basis but gets excused cos of 02. It's mind numbing IMO.

I doubt we will win a comp with Carntey. But you need those fringe players in a comp like ours. Remember Kidwell, Byrne and co on GF day in 02??? They didn't play the game but they contributed thru the year in us making the big one.

      The FlogPen .

      You know it makes sense.

Easy to say get rid of carney and/bj but has anyone actually watched the lower grades to see if the likes of tagive, henry and co are playing well enough to warrant a chance? With us being 2/3 i dont see smith changing the side barring injury regardless of how bad we played to get those 2 wins. morts should keep his spot on bench for now too.r

A stat that means absolutely nothing when quoted on its own particularly for a winger.

I think Morts will be 5/8 next week if Guerra is unfit. And it will be a mistake, Anasta needs to play 5/8 against the Storm.
Morts definately made a difference with his support play today but I know Melbourne will work him over.

When Mortimer came on our kicking game improved, intensity improved, support play improved, I would say most stuff improved. ANASTA improved in his RIGHT position.

Who could ever get inspired while playing for Newtown?

Anasta's RIGHT position is out of the side.

He can't be a five-eight because he has no attacking ability.

He can't be a back rower because he has no workrate.

Anasta has been a backrower since day dot. I agree he can't be 5/8 because of what you said. At this stage I feel he has a spot in our team for his leadership (point in case the hit he put on from penalty tap today causing Lars I think to lose the ball) and finding his feet back in the 'Anasta Corridor' that was big part of taking us to the grand final. Work rate as a backrower-not every backrower 'has' to make 50 tackles and 15 runs a game.

The only thing that got us to the GF was Carney.

Anasta and his corridor were riding on his coat tails.

Who do you think was passing him the ball?

Experience or not he should not be in the club. Worst salary cap sponge in history.

                            That is not saying much!
Hate to be the bearer of even worse news...but Shane Wherat and Darren Clarke were both crap league players!

Some people on here really seem to rave on about Tagive.
I would like to know how they know he's any good cause he's hardly played any first grade games?

Smith has a special arrangement with Carney and FPN.....
