I'll get real excited when Robbo comes out and says we are no chance of signing Staggs too

I'd have his mother in the front row rotation before Junior Bunk. She'd frighten a Comanchero.

Not at all. Not saying Mclean is better than Haas because he's not.

Just think he is still a very good front rower with alot of upside, without chewing up so much of the cap.

Jaz debuted as a 20yo for Manly in 2009, playing 2nd row and he only played 6 games that year. He came to us in 2010 (now 21) and played off the bench in 14 of his 19 games. In 2011 he started in 11 games and came off the bench in 10. It wasn't until 2012 when he became a regular starter, aged 23. His has been a very good example of what I believe is the kind of career progression that a forward needs to survive long term.

At 22, Haas has played 71 games, debuting as an 18 yo. No real comparison in my view.

Hang on a minute, I'm on the line with the ghost of Arthur Beetson. He says we need a new prop. I promise.
Haha, cmon mr voodoo, gotta let ism have a bit of fun and amuse us for a while.

            BTW, who does Artie recommend?

Jared really started to hit his straps in his 4th season with us, 2013. Yes he was good before then but inconsistent as most young props are. He wasn't an out and out superstar prop in his late teens to early 20s imo.......he built his career nicely......
I actually think he played a bit of backrow at times for us in the first couple of seasons as well, I am pretty sure he put on a bit more bulk between 2012 and 2013 (I think he went from 107 0r 108kg to about 115kg in 2013) once it became apparent he was destined to always play as a bookend. Jared has always been able to adapt the changing game as evidenced by losing a bit of weight a couple of seasons ago to cope with the Vlandys ball game.....
BTW, I call you Eddie in a couple of days, I have been crook with the flu......
That sux Brawler.............not that you'll call, I mean the damn flu. I heard it's been bad this year.

Anyway I think you're right. I seem to forget about the early JWH......yet I can recall all of Salvatoris career, or even Arties!
              I must be getting old.

But..................didn't he represent NZ before he played for us?

Yep, he did. He was in the Kiwi touring side at the end of 2009. But he reached the same number of games that Haas has now (71) in 2013, aged 24. So Haas is essentially 2 years ahead.

I always copped shyte on here for saying it, but I never quite got why Klemmer was so highly rated.

In my mind he was built to be a Toops-style winger, but they branded him as 'the beast' (he never was a beefy dude? Always tall/gangly) and used as an enforcer. My one strong memory of him is in that game where he did that stupid toes up run (Homer Simpson style 'I'm just gonna kick my legs and if they hit you ir's your own fault'), got decked badly by JWH/SBW and conceded a penalty when they had possession on our line.

Meh... one of those dudes I'll never understand I guess.

Like Harry Grant & Ryan Papenhuyzen, who you also don't rate?

When was the last time a prop who was that good, that young, actually had a long career and managed to maintain that standard? When I think about props who made it big at a young age, O'Meley and Woods come to mind, their careers started with a bang and ended with a whimper. Not many players can take the kind of beating you get as a prop forward at a young age and not also deteriorate younger than most. Maybe it balances out, and if you make NRL at 18, you bow out at 28, or if you make it at 24, you last until 34. I'm only working off my feeble memory, but I wouldn't expect another 10 years out someone like Haas. He might have another half-dozen at top level, but then I reckon he'll start to fade.
There is only one prop in the game that has been consistently at the top of his game for most of his career. Adapting to the rule and interchange changes. Others have joined him or been better for short periods but this man has been consistently in the top 3 props in the game for 10 years! You all know who I'm talking about....the man love is great.... he has 3 initials .....one is a J the other is W and the last is a H and he is a future roosters immortal! Can Hass be the same.. he has started well!
