  • News: Payne Haas isn't coming to Bondi

A reliable source (Robbo) has told me Haas isn't coming. His word's enough for me.

This has to be a gee up. You can't be that gullible.

For the money he's asking I'd rather get Matterson and Liu back.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Matto probably wants as much as Haas especially now that he is an origin rep.

Robbo would never lie to a fan, wouldn’t chance his credibility being questioned. Always sounded like a myth that he was coming here.

Someone like Jordan McLean would be a much better value signing. Similar with young May on the panthers wing - as good as Cobbo is, value for money would be May.

Not May. I’m like Freddy. I don’t like midget wingers.

But midget throwing on the other hand… Now that’s entertainment!

Seems pretty clear at this point he ain’t coming, smoke and mirrors aside. I’d like to be wrong but.

To be completely and utterly frank and honest....

The likes of May or Suluka Fifita could likely perform almost as well as Haas with an extra year or two in first grade.

And we'd save 1 million bucks in the process.

Plus it appears he is an absolute goose....gives off Latrell vibes. Thinks he's more important than his club.

Plus ... on the strategy/risk assessment side of things ..... 1 Haas ACL you're fkd as a club for the year, because your entire spine has been compromised to blow a mill on a prop.

JWH, arguably the best prop in the game, is at about the maximum you pay for a prop - $680,000 - $700,000 is the absolute ceiling in order to not fk up your squad.

Robbo is smart fellas. He knows.

                    Trust In Trent.

                      Wishful thinking here ....

$450k per season for Tevita Pangai Junior for 3x years = He seems now like less of a flog than Haas, plus the Dogs will look to move him on soon. He's not going to get $700k+ per season anywhere (unless he moves to the UK or perhaps at a basket case/desperate club like the Tigers) but he may consider joining a great club for less to win a comp !

$500k per season for Cobbo for 3x years

= Money spent more wisely instead of buying one player = Haas

The closest I'd ever want TPJ near the Roosters is for Radley to shorten him up in a Byron Bay carpark.

                          Could. They could.

May is 23 years old & Suluka is 22 the same age as Haas who is leaps and bounds better right now. I love the optimism around these guys but I don’t think they will keep up with Payne in terms of development.

One guy is the starting prop for the blues and the other two are starters in NSW cup.

The Roosters are better off sticking on the path to being a development club rather than go back to being a recruitment club.

They don't want to go back to the days of jokes such as the Roosters would sign the Magna Carta if it was a player or be the transit lounge again.

Yes some external recruitment may be required but the majority of players playing NRL should be internally developed as they will know the systems and culture of the club having come through the juniors and lower grades.

Wasn't that long ago that Uncle Nick said we didn't have money under the cap to pay the sort of money that Haas wants so we were not interested. Can anyone tell me when Nick has said we weren't interested in a player and then it happened??? He doesn't play games- if we are interested in a player he says nothing. If he says its not happening then end of story- its not going to happen
