Our forwards aren't poking their nose through the line and getting a quick play the ball with only one marker which would give Verrills the opportunity to take off with his running game.
Even a great running dummy half like Cook is ineffective unless he gets a crack at a single marker, it's up to the forwards to create the space for the backs and ours aren't doing it.
It's why I think we are crying out for a forward who can offload and create some second phase play.

I share a thought that Robbo tends to over rely on structures that have been used previously. He did this in 2014 and later admitted it in 2015, 2018 was the same until we had the smarts in Cronk to revamp it and now we’re in the same boat again. Robbo does struggle time and time with attacking structures as he is a defensive minded coach. For example he has loved the idea of using rads as a modern ballplaying lock but has failed to hatch out a plan on using him at the right moments not at the extent where we’ve become easy to read and predictable on a bunch of plays in our 20. We’re trying to pull the strings without a clear game plan or direction.

The operative word is direction. I commend to you to go to utube and revisit the interview between Mark bouris snd trent on straight talk. Trent emphasised the importance of good captains. Boyd ,friend and cronk all had that ability to control the on field performance. That's why 1 arm
ed Cronk was so valuable in th GF. Unfortunately as a great a player as Teddy is, we are lacking the control and direction of our past captains. Maybe Teddy and Luke will come good in that area.
