I share a thought that Robbo tends to over rely on structures that have been used previously. He did this in 2014 and later admitted it in 2015, 2018 was the same until we had the smarts in Cronk to revamp it and now we’re in the same boat again. Robbo does struggle time and time with attacking structures as he is a defensive minded coach. For example he has loved the idea of using rads as a modern ballplaying lock but has failed to hatch out a plan on using him at the right moments not at the extent where we’ve become easy to read and predictable on a bunch of plays in our 20. We’re trying to pull the strings without a clear game plan or direction.

I agree somewhat. The analogy I've used is he tries to put square pegs in round holes.

And he's earned the right to be stubborn with his coaching principles, and back himself.

      Time will tell.

There's no doubt that the three premierships were on the back of some great players (Cronk, Cords, SBW, Maloney) who were masters in control. We don't have that now.

Everyone on the chookpen has commented on how badly our team has been performing and how there needs to be a change of attitude in our team, the coach, positional changes need to be made , different players need to be selected to the ones that are there, game plan needs to change, direction needs to change etc etc etc..
And I am trying to look at this from the outside, without my Roosters heart getting in the way, taking out all the emotion, and my desire for the club to win all the time.
Has it ever occurred to any of you that Robinson is satisfied with the way that the team is performing?
He thinks they can do better, but on the whole , he is satisfied with the way they are performing on the field.
It MUST be the way he thinks, otherwise he would not be picking the same side as he has been, every week.
If he does make changes, it might be so minor, or imperceptible to a lot of us - he might just make small tweaks to the team.
I am starting to understand the method to Robinson's madness.
If we play the Panthers and Storm over the next few weeks and our side is competitive for 60 to 70 minutes in those games, the season, up to that point in time, will be a success.
And I am backing Robinson to get that done.
Everyone on the Chookper will be outraged - how can it be a success when we lost to the Dragons/ Dogs/ Storm / Riff and sit outside the 8?
                        So be it.

The solution is simple.... Stop the 2 pass in the opp red zone to Teddy and him running our outsides into the sideline, start running some decoys and block plays and make Teddy straighten up and square our attack up...

When I made my previous comments , I was looking more at big picture stuff, but happy to give my thoughts on your reply re Teddy.
I understand what you are saying, but doesn't Teddy usually make his busts by trying to get around the player, on the outside, and beating the player with his pace?
Its similar to what Keary does.
By trying to beat players on the outside, Teddy will be running our outsides into the sideline.
If he doesn't do that, and runs straight, will Teddy just get picked off by the defence, and become more ineffective?

It really should be a mixture of both to keep the defense guessing. How I always like to see halves run the ball on occasion instead of pass pass pass.

Some of the most beautiful trys or support assists that teddy does come from beating tired defenders in around the ruck, usually finished off by rads or keary.

Beating your opposite defender on the outside is as old as time in Rugby league, but it's not the only attacking threat obviously.

We're not pressuring teams around the ruck enough, at least the last 2 weeks. And then one moment bakers pass was called forward and an obstruction call against the knights.

Verills is the key, threaten out of DH, acl recovery noted, too get teddy storming up the middle and bust the forwards, he's strong enough in this regard.

Again direct play is just one tactic that can be broken down into smaller ones, combined with overlaps block plays, shortside raids and sweeps to name a few.
