  • Double Movement Debacle

How does the bunker award a try to Leilua by claiming momentum took him over the line when the bloke had a 90kg anchor holding him back, yet Easts were denied a try when it clearly was momentum that took Collins over the line?

The incompetency won't help Balmain today, they should get lapped, but the inability of the bunker to make correct rulings will end up costing teams 2 points before the season is over.

1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

The incompetency won't help Balmain today, they'll still get lapped, but the inability of the bunker to make correct rulings will end up costing teams 2 points before the season is over.
Leilua's was a fair try as he was over the line and rolled over to score the try. - Leilua's try was kind of similar to Fitzy's try in the 2002 Grand final

Collins was tackled short of the line and the ball(arm carrying the ball ) had made contact with the ground for it to be a legitimate tackle- Needed to get up and play the ball . Collins made a second motion/movement then to plant the ball over the line for a possible try.

The no try double movement was the right call on this occasion.

Likewise haven’t seen Leilua’s try but the correct decision was made yesterday.

Collins arm carrying the ball hits the ground around his side waist region. For momentum to apply that area should finish on or over the tryline. It doesn’t and Lindsay promotes the ball back over his head.

Clear double movement IMO and also as interpreted by the rules.

Luciano Leilua arm hit the ground before he rolled over, I thought they were both double movements.
Rare as hens teeth for big Lindsay to score a try you can't blame him for getting excited.

Momentum though that he ended up over the line

Nice to see Jackson Hastings having a good game, he has had some nice touches and I thought he might be able to return from England like Blake Green did and be a much better player.

The issue with the Collins one is he promotes the position of the ball, where as Leila never promotes the position of the ball after it touched the ground.

Tigers on the end of 9-2 penalty count, not sure they’re getting too many favours this afternoon. Ref seems to be in awe of he Parramatta crowd.

Some really lovely short passing. Been good to watch.

Think they’ll still get lapped in this 2nd half though, their defence is horrendous.

Fair enough explanation Salvo and R6 on the double movement.

                      The penalties are 9-2 Parra.

They have been chosen ala Souffs 2014.

What must that sort of leg up feel like? 9-2?

We'll likely never know in our lifetime.

Congrats Jacko, great field goal from 40 out.

Happy to see Madge win too, you can see physically the pressure the guy carries around. Never nice to see another person go through that.

Ref did them absolutely no favours, I think penalty count ended up 12-4 and the Chris Buttler must have had his eyes closed when James Roberts was tackle without the ball 20 out, right infront of the posts with 2 to go. Should've been game over right there and then.

Hastings kicked a conversion from the sideline too with his only attempt - not sure why they have Luke Brooks kicking as it could have proved costly -Hope they back it up next week and beat the Vermin as well.

Be hard coming down from that though but one has to

Very happy for the entire Wests Tigers organisation today - a well deserved win. They copped a Roosters-like flogging at the hands of that ref.
