Take my tip and use this great awakening as a good time to catch up on some beauty sleep?

I'll need about a 2 year slumber to see any improvement in beauty unfortunately

Ha, some of you are so funny.
Imagine being a woman, having mens sports forced down your throat since the day you were born. I happen to be in the minority - a female who fell in love with Rugby league and cricket from a young age - MENS - because if I enjoyed watching sport, I had no choice but to watch mens on my telly.

There are two arguments I see here. First there is the, I don’t need to have it forced down my throat argument. Well welcome to the club fellas. For years and years and years, we’ve watched mens footy (all codes), cricket, golf, racing and any other manner of mens sport. Women’s so called sports like netball barely got any coverage at all and even today it’s coverage is abysmal compared to the mens sports. I don’t particularly like watching netball myself by the way, but I’m trying to make the point that for women who like watching sport like me, they pretty much have to put up with mens or else. I know so many women who loath having to put up with mens sport on their TV but they make the choice to just not watch it, despite the fact it’s being ‘forced down their throats’.

Then there’s the argument that women shouldn’t play rugby league, as men prefer women to just be women. I was not very good at playing sport, too unco and not at all athletic. But I tell you what, when I was forced to pick a sport at school because sport was compulsory, I would have loved the opportunity to play girls rugby league, or any form of footy. I remember when ONE summer out of my entire high school life we girls got to choose cricket as a summer sport option. It was awesome. I also remember always choosing soccer, when given the chance, but it was always softball or netball we were expected to choose between! Why is it women can’t just be women if they play a traditional mens sport? What’s their gender got to do with it?

Also, I married into an AFL family of four brothers, brainwashed by their AFL mad Victorian born father. Women seem to love AFL. When I’m around the in-laws I am completely outnumbered, with all the sport conversation centred around that other game. I think it’s a good thing the NR, is trying to promote the women’s game as rugby league needs more female fans like me to compete with the AFL. It was watching the men play on TV 40 plus years ago which got me into the sport, but it will take something like the NRLW to get more women to watch, as clearly I was in the minority.

I’m not looking for an argument with you blokes, just coming from a different perspective. I hope you can see it that way. Also, the Roosters mens team will always be number one for me. As I said I don’t need the NRLW as I’m already a massive NRL and roosters fan, but maybe other women do. And getting women and Mums on side can only be good for the future of the NRL right?

Also, onto the actual topic of this thread, I don't think they should fast track the expansion of the comp too soon. It would be a step backwards to dilute the competition by bringing in too many teams too soon if there are not enough good players going around. I feel the same way with the NRL amd the introduction of the Dolphins.

Same here, but that wasn't the point of my beauty sleep comment. It was clearly tongue in cheek and sarcastic.

I fully understand all of the above .
I have a wife and 2 daughters and often hear exactly what your saying.
My wife loves watching NRL but does not like the wnrl.
my daughters don't like either .
The joke was probably bad timing but if anything it was a crack at myself.
anyway that's enough on the subject from me .

It was a bit tense in here by the looks of it. I only noticed the comments just before bed, so took me a while to catch up with it all!

Ref then sends Saints Gal off for high shoulder shot (10mins in a 70 min game is even more severe that the men's 80min game). And to add salt into the wound the Roosters got a free head knock interchange as well lol Like she would still be playing on her ACL lol

Roosters trainer waiving to stop play near action due to injury...few saints defenders stop and then Roosters run in the match winner......I guess Politis brown bags run deep...

How else does a team winning only 40% of regular season games win a comp....even though it's a mickey mouse comp...

Dodgy as ****...like that Saints no 8 bloke...
the saints girl getting 10 in the bin was unlucky but that's the way the rules have been interpreted since last year. nothing to see here.

as much as the crack down on head high tackles has changed, it's never been the case that a trainer raising his arm has the power of a ref blowing his whistle. quincy dodd dropped off the tackle, possibly because she thought her team mate was trying to strip the ball. nothing to see here either.

nick politis bribing the refs so that we win? hmmm ... that's just deranged.

the nrlw isn't part of a left wing conspiracy. take a look at jfc's interest in it and his anti-woke credentials are impeccable. some people are just footy lovers.

I get it MR and I feel for you. Considering it had such an impact in your life, wouldn’t you hate for history to repeat itself now with it going the other way? I’m just saying that you felt like it forced upon you, just like it’s being forced upon us now. Difference being, and no disrespect but the woman’s game has got a LONG way to go in gaining interest like the mens game. The realistic part is that it will just never get there.

im all for anyone trying follow their dreams and trying to be the best they can at whatever they choose to do however im from the previous century and am not really one for woman’s contact sports.

the other problem with fast tracking expansion is that it will mean that the nrl is unlikely to allow multi-year contracts, meaning there's no loyalty to one club.
