It was obvious in the women's final, the elation on the faces of the victors and the shattered hearts of the losers, how much RL means to these women, and have no fear, young women will flock to the game, to build other teams.
Took me a while to warm to it, realizing that it's not really a mirror exactly to the blokes, but a copy, evolving for them.

Its a matter of opinion and there is no right or wrong one.

Is that too hard to grasp for you mate
Bondicigar, I agree with you, that each of our opinions are valid and true to ourselves, and hopefully something in the middle prevails.

it would be better to consolidate the success of this season rather than flood the comp with teams. ultimately the nrlw should aim to be a comp standing on its own merits, attracting its own sponsors, paying its own way, with stand alone games. i reckon they should look to play at the old suburban grounds. they could market it as league returning to its roots - in a different way.
We are not privy to sponsorship /broadcast agreements etc to know how the breakdown of this revenue is for either the NRLW or NRL comps or teams- whether at the Head office or club level .

For an example i have seen club sponsorship packages based on sponsoring the NRLW team only/NRL team only or both NRLW and NRL teams.

The NRL Grant to each NRL club is 13 or so million per year.

Do Broadcasters pay for for showing and calling the NRLW games - Not sure

It would be a major backward step to relegate the NRLW comp to a suburban ground one though as why shouldn't they play on the big stage like their NRL cohorts as a double header.

If paying it's own way was a criteria then clubs wouldn't run junior rep/pathway programs/senior reps (Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup) and one can say if not for the 13 mill or so NRL grant each year some clubs would fold and would not be playing at all.

How many NRL clubs turn a profit each year even with this 13 or so million grant >

The expansion is a great idea but the funding must be there to support itt and the structure /systems/pathways etc - i.e local comps/junior and senior reps to increase player numbers and standards of play and players.

Remuneration of players as well - current contracts are from 8k minimum wage to 28k for marque players - obviously this will need to be looked at with expansion and more games - Currently players are training 3 times a week and holding down either part time jobs or reduced hours jobs.

That can't go on obviously if the goal is for the NRLW to be a fully professional comp

The NRLW season currently is roughly 14 weeks taking into account pre-season/ season/finals

Yes you can have an opinion the same as someone has the right to question your opinion.

I am very proud of the NRLW team ever since they started playing and they are deserved of respect the same as any team and player than dons the Sydney Roosters Jumper is - whether female or male teams or players.

It always amazes me during the NRL game how people dish players during the game and often wonder why they are supporting this club

King, you really have no idea mate with all your righteous gibberish. He just doesn't like the women's game as much as you. Can't you get that? He wasn't disrespectful to the women who play, he just doesn't like it like you do. That's not an "opinion you can question". It's just a personal preference. He probably likes other things more than you do. That's what the world is like. Live and let live mate, you're carrying on like an idiot.

ks - i don't want the nrl to fast track the nrlw because i want the nrlw to succeed. this year has been a success but that doesn't mean the comp should be 200% bigger in a few years.

playing stand alone games on nrl standard suburban grounds is hardly a backward step! surely there are some sponsors willing to come on board to sponsor the women's game specifically. give gina reinhardt a call.. ideally it would be good to keep admission prices as low as possible and if you could get 6 or 7 thousand at leichhardt oval to watch a game there'd be more atmosphere than at a game where the women play a curtain raiser with half the crowd not paying attention.

Having a womens game has a lot of potential for the greater game. Whether it be funding, fan support, participation it has huge growth potential.

As for quality, I think all the players are centrally contracted and dispersed to the clubs. And clubs can have a marquee player each. (maybe more under the new model)

The aim of having a womens game as the curtain raiser to the mens is another smart move. Crowds will rise as a result and they won’t just be filled with boofy, boozy blokes.

Also, the mens game will be known as the NRLM in the future.

Did you read the post champ? I said, oh no... bad idea. It also works in the other game you seem to looooooove so much anyway!

Oh and I don’t need you to look up to me. It would be a bit hard to do so from your high horse.
