Tom Carr scores in the left corner after Lam got around his man to create an overlap. Keighran converts from the sideline, 6-0 after 10.

Knights then send the kick off out on the full. Bears on the attack

Karawalevu slides into the right corner after a slick cut out from Smith draws in the knights winger. Keighran again converts from the sideline. 12-0 after 27.

Bears look threatening when they swing the ball out the back, not so much when they try and barge over through the middle.

Next set after points, Nu Brown beats a man and gets an offload away, and Lachie Lam throws a cut out ball to Carr to beat a compressed knights defensive line. The bears are chased down about 30 out from knights line.

Ball is then spread early today the right, Smith gets a desperate offload away which is picked up by Whyte, who beats some lazy defenders back up the middle to crash over.

Keighran converts from right next to to get posts. 18-0 after 30.

Knights have sustained pressure on the bears line for a few sets and no. 8 crashes over from close range. Converted to make it 18-6. 38 gone.

Roosters drop the ball with seconds remaining, Smith flops late on a Knight and gets sin binned. Knights score on the last play of the half. Conversion from the side line is a peach.

            18-12 HALF TIME

              Appreciate your updates keggs1.

Sounds like the Bears in control then dropped the guard in final minutes of half and have handed over momentum.

First set of the second half, knights make a soft break up the middle to score an easy try. Will be converted to make it 18-18.

Bears dominated from the 5th minute to the 35th minute but have seen a 18 point lead evaporate within 6 in game minutes. Knights still have an extra man for 7 more minutes.

no worries JFC, your synopsis is spot on.

Cessnock is a lovely town and I rate the concept of teams like the knights and raiders playing reserve grade games in regional heartlands (Cessnock, Goulburn etc)

A bit of back and forth between both sides, bears have aimed up in defence while a man down.

Short side play sees lam hit Keighran with a crash ball about 15-20m out, he breaks two tackles, draws the fullback and puts Tommy Carr over in the corner.

AK nails it AGAIN from the sideline. 24-18, bears back to 13 on the field, and 52 mins played.

Bears in good field position get away with a forward pass on a backline sweep. Next play sees Whyte shake off a few tired Knights to score.

Keighran continues his perfect day with the boot. 30-24 Bears ahead with 6 to go.

Bears get a penalty off the following restart, and in the next set, big Hau Tapuha receives an unders ball and strolls over next to the posts.

Tom Carr converts, it’s 36-24, there’s 2 minutes to go and that’s me signing off.
