The NRL team has to have 24 man game day squads due to covid protocols and therefore draws from and diminishes reserve grade/feeder clubs.
As a result, this year would’ve been the ideal year to reintroduce multiple grades playing on game day like they’re wanting to.
Makes you wonder how capable the NRL admin really are?Last edited by A Country Member; 03-09-2022, 03:26 PM.

I am assuming the same rules for a 21 player squad will apply to a 24 player squad - reducing it to 19 players 24 hours before kickoff - those cut will still have to hang around in case they maybe required on match day though.
That's going to be an issue -sure you need additional players for Covid but you could have 6 or 7 players not playing any footy for weeks on end- especially the way the NSW Cup operates (10 Sydney Teams plus Knights and Raiders) .
Usually played on Saturdays plus NRL teams will be taking 24 players to away games - i.e outside of Sydney
It is lucky that Norths play Newcastle on Sunday in Cessnock as 7 of those on the Chooks extended bench are in the selected Norths Side.
Maybe why no Jersey Flegg team has been named as they don't know who can play pending any Covid related withdrawals in the NRL and the Knock on effect of elevating players from the extended squad to the NRL side meaning some of the Flegg players will have to play Reggies.
UPDATED SQUAD - 24 PLAYERS- Adam Keighran added to squad plus Tuku Hau Tapuha and Benny Marschke who are on development contracts and I thought unavailable till round 11 for NRL?

Always thought that 'Nu Brown had some ability. I read a bit about him today and he seems like a decent kid too. Had bad foot injuries before making comeback in UK reserve grade last season. Goes ok I reckon. Plays halves and hooker.Last edited by Batemans Bay Rooster; 03-09-2022, 04:48 PM.
