I am also enjoying having more footy. It's a bit nostalgic, it's been a while since we had a losing team to support.

But hopefully they will get their eventually.

I am wondering if there should be a separate NRLW discussion group but the reality probably is that it will take a long time for the Chookpen to get fully behind it.

If they schedule some games before the main show then they will get some Chookpen support in the stadium..

Interesting with the kick stats... commentators on the radio kept saying that the Titans were winning the kicking game by a lot.

Issue is ball control and set completions as you can't put any pressure on the oppositions defence if you are not completing sets which limits your point scoring ability . You are only putting pressure on your own defence by the extra defence you have to do and this takes the gas out of players for the attack side of the game.

Not saying they should have 5 runs from dummy half and or a few one out hit ups and kick on the last - but they need to work on set completions to build some sort of momentum and confidence which they can build on to play a more expansive game as the game goes on.

Not sure why this is the case as even the Chooks Junior sides have low set completion rates compared to other teams in their respective comps.

Do they do enough ball work at Training? mmm maybe more work on fundamentals of the game wouldn't go astray.- i.e NRL Mens side less wrestling and more fundamentals as well.

Fundamentals include

Passing the ball- left and right/including at dummy half
Catching the ball
Running the ball
Playing the ball
Kicking the ball
Tackling and Defence

It is surprising how many players can't pass from left to right for instance /catch the ball and even can't play the ball properly etc.- all fundamentals of the game

Robbo has always had the belief that it's not just controlling the ball and completing sets, it's what you do with the ball as well. 5 dummy half runs and a kick doesn't sap a lot of energy from a defensive team, but moving the ball around, asking questions of the defence and forcing defenders into effort on effort will lead to fatigue just as much as competing 33 from 35. The problem with the girls team is they don't really have the skill set to back up a poor completion rate

I mean honestly it's Easts with a different set of names. IMO in a few years when they have a full comp and are on full-time salaries, it'll just be the 2nd Easts game that I watch every week.
