Big TV games go to those clubs who have the big names. Why??? They get ratings. You get the big TV games you get the big $$$ from the sponsors.
We have lost our star power. Mini and Bwaiff are old, their time has past.
JWH would still pull the ratings, like Mozz did.
But to get the real big games, the real big $$$ you need something we don't have ATM.
That's not to say we don't have some good kids with pootential. Thing is pootential don't win comps and dont pull ratings and $$$.
It's all about cash people's.
It's been our quietist media build up in my lifetime. We used to always lead the media articles, whether that be good or bad news.
That's why I believe we will sign a few big names, it's our way. There's still a chance we could develop our pootential, but we are Easts we don't roll that way.
For me the Bulldogs Dragons game would be a much better rater.

I hate how we seem to cop a lot of early season games on Sunday arvo in the heat. Been that way for a few seasons now.
I bet we revert to being the sat night specials like in rnds 6 and 7. We will get very few advantages as per usual. We will need to earn their respect again by winning again.

You know it makes sense.

Am looking forward to my Darwin trip for Round 7. Everything, including ticket, all booked and paid for so just 'entertainment expenses' to be factored in.

The AFL teams that play these Darwin games struggle to recover and win the week after too...

Whether or not we have big names in our club have nothing to do with us losing the Broncs Good Friday game. That is decided as part of the draw, before the broadcasters get to pick their games. And I can only think that either we didn't request it or that Tigers and us both requested it and the Tigers won out (no surprise there).
As for the Darwin game on 14 April, we don't play a game after that until the Anzac Day game on 25 April, which gives the blokes a fair break and more than enough time to recover. That could be part of the reason why we are playing the Darwin game when we are. And then they'd have a fair break after that game again, as it is counted as part of the round the weekend after.

Agree Big Morls. I used to love the Good Friday match. It was my Easter Tradition and nothing would get in the way of it.
Friends would get peeved because they'd suggest going away for the Easter Long Weekend only to have me chime up and say I wouldn't be available til Sat, so I'd either meet them there or miss out.
I reckon the NRL is determined to share the 'big games' around the Clubs and may consider that us and the DragQueens already have a jump on the others because of the Anzac Day game. That may have gone against us if both us and the Tigers wanted Good Friday against the Broncs.
On the Good Friday game, I was always surprised that the Broncs never pestered the NRL to get the Good Friday game as their home game every second year - share it as we do the Anzac Day game. Could have been something to do with their good record at the SFS.
