Problem with Gus is that many have him as a future captain, with some of his antics and inconsistencies, I don’t see it in him. Plenty of others in front of him.

Totally agree...but I'd go further and say one of the best I've ever seen over such a long period. As you note, some have the odd good year here and there but the consistency of JWH in a time of rapid change to the way the game is played is amazing. To me he is an all time roosters great without doubt and an NRL great that should be looked at in the same light as Lazarus (who Beetson told me was a roid user) Webke (who played in the multiple interchange error) Chief etc....

Gallen went til 38, but with injury niggles already for JWH, I don’t think he plays past his contract.
