Ever since Cam Smith retired the storm have current referees working with them. I have never seen a side get more leg ups than them.

Refs have even said they respected Cam Smith and thought he was super intelligent (I'd assume same with Bellamy).

I dunno the guy but as a lawyer I always cringe at the generous interpretations that the Drizz always seems to get (e.g. various dangerous tackles needing an explicit reference rather than just being called 'dangerous', 5-man strips not getting called a blatant 'hand on the ball', no penalty for doing sham interchanges...etc. Even the fukking 'no way Bellamy or Smith knew about the salary cap cheating, Smith just received his pay from 10 different Western Union accounts and assumed that was normal'... all absolute BS). IMO this is all reflective of the NRL's inability to stand up to its Melbourne franchise. They always let them into the room as a friend/client rather than giving them the big 'don't argue'.

IMO it's an unhealthy relationship that hasn't won them any extra bums on seats (or local juniors) from Melbourne. You can guarantee 100% that if Melbourne make another GF, locals will be watching AFL re-runs before considering the NRL. Either address this or move 'em to Brisbane IMO.

EPL fans can stand around watching their team lose 5-0 in -20 degree conditions while holding hands and singing church songs. They'll do so for 50+ years without missing a game, including times when they are relegated...etc because they're part of the club. IMO the Drizz' biggest issue is that they are a team (which could be located anywhere)... not a club.

Every other club wants to be like them. The Roosters copy Melbourne & have been successful doing it. The Roosters have poached their wrestling coach their assistant coaches & the prize possession Cooper Cronk.
