  • Manu Contract Decision

Just seen the Tele reporting on Manu’s things to factor in the next contract, does anyone have a link to the article for a tight ass like me?

Without reading the article, you can expect it is an article that contains nothing but speculation because it is probably a slow news day and they needed something to fill column space.

        Like:
Joseph Manu is close to the best specialist centre in the league but the dynamic Rooster has the potential to be just as effective at fullback or five-eighth. The Kiwi international has filled in at both positions at times this year and was excellent at the back again in this one, scoring a try and running for 201 metres while also breaking six tackles.
Manu is a top class centre without doubt and he’s more valuable to the Roosters because of his ability to fill in at two other positions. But given he can negotiate for the 2023 season from November there’s a chance another club swoops in and offers something the Tricolours cannot — a more prominent role in the side in a playmaking position.

The Roosters rarely lose someone they want to keep and they’re smart enough to find ways to keep Manu engaged while keeping him at centre. But even they have limits to what they can do and the idea of assuming more responsibility away from Bondi will no doubt be tempting to the 25-year-old.

I really like Manu at 1 and his motor would only grow as he played there more. Someone will make a huge play for him

That's basically what the article is saying..."fullback money" and possibly a "more prominent role somewhere else."
Also that we can only do so much.

Here we go again...he can negotiate for 2023 in Nov the article states.
            First Latrell, now this.

            Friend retired,
            Cordner retired
            Maubs retired
            BMoz retired
            JMoz looks like retiring
            Liu is going.

Surely we can keep Manu...there must be money somewhere.
Manu is a champion centre, champion full back, and champion 5/8...all adding up to what Tedesco is getting.

hes a fantastic player, but the roosters have shown theyre not willing to pay a million to a centre aka latrell. i doubt theyd do that for manu. most hed get here is 750-800. what would you do if he warriors or broncs come in with a mil saying we want you at fullback (walsh would most likely move to 5/8)

Im not sold on him at FB or 5/8. If everyone is fit Teddy & Keary play FB & 5/8 so for me I want to see him playing centre & getting heavily involved tackling & running with heaps more aggression .

We are nutz if we don't.
Tedesco is away 'half' the season playing Origin.
Keary is only one concussion away from retirement.
If we are serious about winning a premiership we must have Manu.

This is very much the Greg Inglis issue at Melbourne all over again.

Supremely talented player who struggles to fully utilise his talent at centre but would be one of the top 8 fullbacks in the game if he made the move there full time.

I think the Broncos will do that.

Roosters offered Latrell $800,000...and he was no FB as well.
Doubt we'll be offering Tedesco $1m next contract.
