I think the rules are being used as a bit of a cop out, the dragons/warriors game and penrith/parra games were great.

it’s the quality of the teams that is really being shown up, and to be honest, every year that I can remember recently has only had a handful of teams that can genuinely compete for the premiership.

the 66-0 blowout games this year, would probably have been 30-40 plus blowouts anyway a couple years ago.

I know for me, if the roosters were winning by over 40 points every game with a healthy team, I wouldn’t be complaining about the rules at all.

I don’t like the new rules, but it won’t change, so if I want to keep enjoying league, I have to accept them and hope the chooks can compete next year.
It has to change and I believe it will. These blowouts are no good for the game and will be know good for sponsorship .If teams aren't competitive the the money won't be there .People are turning big the game .Ratings are down . Something must change

Our team v Dogs should be...all the biggest players we have:

        "kegs" Keighran is 24, 183cm, 91kg.
Good goal kicker, he should be five-eighth.

        "hutch" Hutchison is 26, 187cm, 97kg.
Good kicker in general play, he should be halfback.

"iku" Ikuvalu is 27, 184cm, 100kg, he should be right wing.

"teddy" Tedesco is 28, 184cm, 95kg, he should play fullback.

"toops" tupou is 30, 196cm, 105kg, he should play left wing.

        *****

Sitili should be on the bench and come on after our big forwards have trampled the opposition.

Verrills ( tackle efficiency 95%) should play hooker.
        Starting props...SST, JWH

        Lock...Radley

        2nd row Chricton Baker

        Bench:

        Liu Whyte Sitili Tapuha

Agree with you wholeheartedly, but for any rooster supporter that looks at our lineup and thinks teams are worried about us, well they're sadly mistaken.

Won’t Teddy and Gus be missing due to Origin duties? In dead rubbers they should let them play the week before.

I thought Crichton was playing centre & are you sure Teddy should play fullback.

The European football (soccer) championships are on at the moment and it's been fascinating because in most cases the games are a contest.
The only rule change of note besides using technology to check for offsides or the ball crossing the line for a goal has been stopping defenders passing the ball back to the keeper which was a great innovation. This is for a game that is older than league and played in every corner of the globe.
On the other hand we have vlandys who in his wisdom has flipped the game on its head by implementing numerous rule changes that has given enormous control to megalomaniacs with a whistle who are one of the factors in creating these blowouts each weekend.
Why do the refs have a certain pace for defenders getting off the attacker but when the team gets near the tryline they cue the Benny Hill music and everything is done at fast forward pace. They pluck inside the 10 out of their backsides when the defending team is on the tryline when logic would tell you it's easier to get back as they don't have as far to go.
Besides the roosters games I turn off the thrashings now because it's so predictable and not entertaining. He's hurting the game and something has to be done because broadcasters won't be paying big bucks for this rubbish that's getting served up on a weekly basis.

What about Billy Smith into the centres & Suaalii to play Norths. I posted before the Roosters game that in my opinion the wing position is more brutal & involved than centre & that JS was in for a tough night. Well he certainly had a tough night & probably shouldnt be playing on the wing at 17 whilst learning about FG.

Just an excuse saying set restarts and ball in play is the reason for the high scores.

The issue is players have poor defensive skills not just as individuals but as a team and teams are still clinging to the outdated structured way of playing - multiple hit ups , out the back with decoys and kick on the 5th and set their defence for the same structured play from their opponents.

The better teams are doing limited hit ups and are moving the ball more with players in motion , in support and offloading and defences are at 6's and 7's in coping with the ball movement.

They seem to be surprised when teams are moving the ball early in tackle counts and possibly thinking your not supposed to be playing that way and where's the structured play you should be playing.

Chooks defence is all over the place hardly ever a straight line and very average line speed one has to say - players out of the line rushing up and others hanging back and flat footed - also players clocking off when the ball moves to the other side of the field and not reacting when the ball comes back their way.

Teams moving the ball left or right always find lazy defenders when they go back through the middle as well

Need to play what's in front of you and not structured play anymore which also means teams will also need to change the way they defend- A straight line of defence and line speed is the key in limiting yardage and ball movement.

You need to move the ball when playing teams such as the Riff and Storm and the other better teams - if you play structured footy you just play into their hands

Chooks need to improve in a lot of areas - defence and ball control and set completions - kicking game too.

I think they also need an attacking coach or someone who can work with the players in some capacity for a less structured way of playing - don't know if Cronk has the time or Fittler even.

Can't have the defence coach in charge of the attack one has to honestly say

I'm not confident of a victory at all....

Our completion rates are well below average as we just keep giving the ball away so easily and it is something that we are not rectifying or attempting to fix....
