  • Player Market?

What do we need, who is available? Who do we throw the book at?

lets face it, we have lost a shit load of players for next season, forget these nuffiescon 360, we have cash in the coffers to go big.

my number 1 target is The Cheese, you get attack, defence and intensity with this bloke, 80 min player, Sammy is solid but not in Smiths post code.

we need a no nonsense front rower to assist Collins and take the workload off JWH and SST, someone in their mid twenties, our young blokes just have not stood up IMO

one more backrower to add some impact off the bench, someone that can break the line not just tackle.

Tevita Pangai, esp with the Broncs paying half his salary, i have no doubt Robbo would get the best out of him

    but the Cheesecis a must.

keary and collins coming back will make a big difference and if radley can stay unsuspended then we've got a good team. we've got a lot of stars already so we'll be looking for value for money when it comes to new recruits

We need more of an X-factor in the forwards who can play a bit out of structure. TPJ is exactly that with his offloading ability

Apart from Angus, Radley and Verrills and Collins when he comes back and pack is old and battle weary, JWH and sST are playing huge minutes, that will take its toll. Sitilli great attacker, lazy in defence, Butcher can tackle but offers little elsewhere, Apart from Keighran our bench offers very.little, our young buck forwards are not first grade standard Liu going will leave a huge hole

with all these retirements there is easily enough for Pangai and Smith, we dont need anyone else

I love how most on here reckon Melbourne are cheats & dont play the game in the right spirit yet love the idea of buying their players & assistant coaches which they developed.

You are being harsh on Verrills. He has played f/a since 2019 and is still effectively the same inexperienced kid and also lacking in match fitness.

Cheese would not be value for money in our team. Much like Harry Grant, built like a brick shithouse and explosive when playing limited minutes. Nothing flash when asked to play the full 80 mins.

Our inexperienced and return from injury players are getting bashed week after week. It doesn’t do the youngsters confidence any good and to place the responsibility on them as the future is unfair. The club hasn’t paid big money for players since the Maloney and Jennings era. The bargain basement mentality and questionable upgrades on contracts is a real concern.

I wouldn't mind seeing Smith and Verrills both playing 9, similar to what Grant and Smith do at the Storm. And then possibly moving Smith to the backrow at a later point. I think that's pretty unlikely though. I also definitely don't want Smith if that means losing Verrills.

Outside of maybe Morgan Boyle from the Eagles, there isn't a whole lot of quality available on the market next year. That being said, the comments about us not having much money left in the cap for next year cannot possibly be true. No way do Boyd's, Friend's, possibly Liu's and Morris' wage just go to upgrades. I've got no doubt we'll make a play for someone.

Losing Cordner, Friend and Liu are massive losses to our pack.
I like the look of some of our young guys but they are a couple years off being top notch.
Looking at how we get dominated by other packs, I doubt Collins will put us ahead or even level with those packs next year. JWH and SST another year older.
I think we need one more decent forward at minimum and my vote goes in for Tapine.

Tapine would be a good buy if we can pull it off!

                          I think Duges is available.

Exactly the point. Massive loss of experience in the middle and injuries to all and sundry have caused massive disruption. The young forwards and Walker have done
very well. It takes years to develop as a forward in the NRL because it is bloody hard. I remember people bagging Mick Crocker and Lindsay Collins and Iceman only to jump all over them when they reached the right level of physical maturity. DSF and Baker will get there.
it is the end of an era and we will probably not be genuine premiership contenders for a few years. In tne
good and the bad I will still love the mighty ESDRLFC.

I don’t think Smith wants to share the role that’s why he’s leaving Melbourne
