It’s just making it easy for the opposition. Kick it to the other side or a short kick off or kick it short and low towards the sideline and hopefully who ever wants to catch it might knock it on.

I’d even go as far as suggesting Tedesco or Keighran to just plant the ball on the ground on the middle without a tee and kick it hard enough so that it makes the10m and let’s see the opposition trying to catch a rugby ball doing it’s thing… but of course it may not be seen as an ethical way to start the game and we know how Robbo is about being ethical.

All I want to see is for our players to stop playing like robots and do things that will surprise the opposition and that also goes for drop kicks. We are not winning the tough games the standard way so we need to think outside the box.
One can assume the rules as far as making the game faster and the ball in play longer will stay and thus force teams to change from the robotic way of playing i.e hit ups , out the back wit decoy runners , kick for the winger or the downtown high kick to the fullback.

You have to move the ball and have players in motion , in support and offloads etc and avoid the wrestle.

The Chooks really struggled to make yardage in their sets against the fast moving Riff defence - The Hit ups and High Kick to the fullback on the last was all they seemingly had and the hope the Riff would make an error.

Not saying we would have won with a short kick off but it’s frustrating when we are in this situation and they do the same thing over and over like kicking deep to the right for Fisher Harris to bring it back time and time again and it would get them on the front foot…Just do something else. I would like to see the Storm one day losing by a lot and see what they can come up with… The only that happen to them was on the GF 2018!!!

I would do short-to-mid kickoffs every single time.

you can put one up high enough to get to the 30 while still giving plenty of hang time to make it a genuine contest for the ball.

considering most kickoffs end with tackle 1 on about the 15, you are essentially giving up 10-15m at worst but giving yourself a genuine chance at getting the ball back.

it’s frankly laughable that teams kick long
