Interesting that Ruben Porter is starting for the Bears, was signed 2 weeks ago from Mounties and has been playing the last few weeks for Hills Bulls in RMC.

Always thought he would kick on in 1st grade somewhere as he looked a step above in the lower grades.

I'm actually liking this plan to get our entire 2016 U20s squad back in our system, now guys like Marschke, Thomas, Porter are a bit older they still might turn into something under Taylor/Robbo.

Might see Kiah Cooper, Bernie Lewis and everyone's fav hooker Grant Garvey returning soon.

          Handy centre combo for Reggies.

He had some defensive lapses last week which won't help against the Panthers.
Still a lot to learn but he will get his opportunity soon enough.
It will be interesting to see whether Robbo gives Smith some NRL time too ahead of JS during the year.
I think Suaallii is a great defensive back , I think most of our defensive issues last week came from Keighran defending in the middle where we got worked over by Cummins and then he was pushed to our right edge to fill in once Walker went off injured and we had holes everywhere because we had Marshke in the bin. Some of Sitilli efforts were atrocious and I've pointed it out before his defending from marker or A defender once we are on the back foot are really poor and he seems to lack stamina.
Ikuvalu whilst a good finisher has a deficiency under the high ball and he has a silly error in him, the handing over of the ball from the penalty and turning his back cost us a try on the weekend.
Suaallii is a better footballer than him or Lam and must surely stay in first grade, thanks to Souths he's a coupe de ville at the bottom of a cracker Jack box.

Before anyone gets their hopes up for a win, the referee is Ashley Klown.

Doubt that will happen, I don't think he even plays anymore!

But it looks like Robbo hasn't had a chance to read the chookpen this week with all that's happened with Cords.
If Manu stays at centre, which looks like Robbo isn't going to change, then the only spot for JS is Ikavalu's which I can't see happening either barring any injuries.
But as we get closer to the semis and JS gets more experience who knows what Robbo has in mind.
I've always thought that not listening to 90% of Chookpenners is one of Robbos greatest strengths.

suaalii's a very good defender. it's a choice between manu at 5/8 with suaalii at centre v lam at 5/8 with manu at centre. it's close but i'd go with the former
Maybe the reason Suaalii is listed in the reserves is so he can keep the same jersey from last week with the #21 which is made for him with the special sponsor...its all about being smart with your money.

Side note, it always weirds me out that they don't change the numbers as the team evolves throughout the week. As a casual viewer, I find it quite useful to see what position people are playing.

It’s so when Robbo gets asked at the presser if he’s playing this week, as he always is, he can say “He’s in the 21”. And he’ll be telling the truth.

The player has to play in the jersey number that they were named in the side as.

I remember when players in reggies and under 23's/3 grade/21's didn't wear 1 to 13 - 14 to 26 reserves and 27 to 39 in under 23's/3rd grade - may have been allocated a designated jersey number at the start of the season depending on what grade and position they were in?

I recall Fittler in one game being a late inclusion in 1st Grade and playing in a jersey with a number in the 40's or 50's ?

It seems logical to play Manu more at 5/8, but maybe TIT knows how good he is, so is keeping him 'freshish' for when it counts, as well as giving littlelam as much game time as possible to help him, cause, we all see how much he is not quite there atm, but hopefully, he'll make it, remember, he's only played about 20 games. TIT.

that's the thing about this club - always one step ahead
