New poster here. The referees were not the best but I like magic round. Less chances to watch top matches in qld so its a lot of fun. Rooster victory and no injuries made it better.

I got whacked in the head playing school football with a non-intentional stiff arm. a hairline fracture of my jaw led to headaches, a replacement bridge, and braces for ten years. The game needs to get rid of the head high shots and, in the case of Papilloma or whatever he's calling himself this week from Canberra, the accidental knee.

The NRL should look at player ejections for high tackles instead of send-offs.
This could work through the infringing team playing with 12 on the field for 10 minutes then after that they have to put on a different player where the 'ejected' player can't play the rest of the game
This penalises the individuals who make these high tackles without completely ruining the game through send-offs and 12 v 13 for 60 minutes.
Obviously teams who have a half, fullback or even outside back ejected are clearly worse off but must adapt the rest of the game. This even holds for forwards through less on the bench to cover fatigue.
The rule helps keeps the integrity of the game without causing 50+ farcical blowouts

Can I ask a question please? I have heard all of these different ways of saying Papali over the past few weeks. I don't know who they are talking about. Is it Josh Papali from faiders?

And if they continue to reduce the interchange, we might see the end of the monsters who can only play 20 minutes.... they were never meant to be part of the game, and a more athletic style of forward. Adapt or die, fulfil your duty of care to the players. Thats what they are trying to do. FINALLY.
You can't legislate against collisions that happen in a body contact sport. All you will see is players continually getting sent from the field because of accidents. It's absolutely the wrong way to handle it!

mmm so Joe Blogs a rookie player flattens Tedesco and puts him out for the game and the only on field penalty is that Blogs's team plays for 10 minutes with 12 players and Blogs is then replaced by a seasoned NRL player after the 10 minutes has elapsed who plays the rest of the game to have it as 13 vs 13.

Somehow i don't think that will work

From the fans perspective, who pay money to watch the game and ultimately will decide the success of the game, it is a much better outcome.
As soon as someone is sent off, the game is effectively over and in 99% of cases the penalty of a send off is not even warranted. A 10 minute penalty is fair enough if that’s what the NRL really want to enforce but at the end of the day as long as you can tackle there will he ones that go accidentally high. Deliberate dog high shots should be send offs but anything accidental should never be sent off.

Plus your argument doesn’t even make sense. If the seasoned NRL player is so much better than Joe Blogs, then why was Joe Blogs on ahead of him in the first place?

Yeah, I was making slightly racist fun at the preferred change in pronouncement that is now prevelent.

PVL on NRL 360 shows what a complete imbecile he is. This is as bad as Super League. Shouting down the camera saying he’s right and everyone else is wrong is the tactic of a dictator. No substance just shouting. Get lost you fool.

And Hooper said the game needs a dictator and PVL is that man.
FFS PVL knows as much about the game as a random three toofed Souffs supporter in the streets.
I hope PVL hung around and listened to what Robbo had to say.

V'landys made a fool of himself on NRL360.
Dodged legitimate and thoughtful questions from Ikin and scoffed at any criticism. Sheer arrogance from someone who is maligned by the wider NRL community.
Said over and over how he will not back down from what we saw on the weekend despite saying elsewhere the referees were overconscientious.
What is it V'landys? What's the new garbage rule this week?

PVL knows as much about player welfare as a well-fitting suit. We don’t want him.

mmm to flatten Tedesco - do you think that wont happen knowing a team will only have 12 players for 10 minutes and then be back to 13 under your proposal - coaches milk every rule they can to get an advantage over the opposition no matter what.

If any incident warrants a send off or binning that should occur - both send off's were 100% warranted and i think a few others were lucky to get only 10 minutes as subsequently they will be missing games through suspension for the foul play - McGuire should have been sent off for that hip drop tackle - that is another tackle that should be banned and the culprits sent off. .

If that's the case wouldn't we have seen that with just the normal 10 minute sin bin in place?

They are not new rules and i think people complaining don't understand this very fact - They are current rules which have been around since day dot - it was the case of the NRL not enforcing them and leaving it up to the MRC/Judiciary to deal with foul play instead of on the field by the match officials as it should be and now will be.

These old players live in the dark age with the oh in my day you would just get up off the ground and played on if you were flattened in a high tackle.

Why would you need more consultation with clubs and players about enforcing the existing rules though?

Good on V'Landys and Abdo for fixing this blight on the game up with more to be done with other tackles and wrestling and judo techniques in getting rid of them- players and coaches have to change their ways simple as that - the rules will now be fully enforced which can only be good for the game. Bring on the 2 conferences too
