Massive thunderstorm hit the ground, the Newtown game was played in heavy rain, thunder and lightning.
        Pitch dark, lights turned on.

Saw Bernie Gurr was at the ground today.

Who knows who played in the NYC...the program all day was useless.

Fist half of first grade was mostly NYC players plus a few first graders.
        Bulldogs much the same.
The real first grade teams from both sides started the second half...no Anasta though.

Justin Carney played well...seemed to go to celebrate a try before he scored it, and dropped the ball.

Bulldogs left the Newtown boys standing in the rain, thunder and lightning after half time waiting in position, and the Bulldogs didn't show for a long time.

Overall our first grade team played well.

Lightning can travel 3 kms horizontally and fry you into a zapped wreck.

Smith SURPRISED BY startING the first half with mainly fringe 1st graders(NOWHERE NEAR THE SIDE THAT WAS NAMED DURING THE WEEK) like Kheirallah at half, LITTLE JOHN 5/8, DEAN BLACKMAN, QLD RECRUIT - BEN LOXLEY @ FULLBACK & USAIA O'SULLIVAN.
OTHERS TO GET A RUN THROUGHOUT THE GAME WITH LIMITED TIME WERE ISSAC LUI, DUMBRELL, AILAOMAI, BOSDEN & KANE EVANS. TAGO GOT SOME GAME TIME TOO & PULLED OFF A MASSIVE HIT AND MADE SOME STRONG HIT-UP'S.
TAU TAU HAD AN IMPRESSIVE GAME IMO. HE MADE A FEW LONG BREAKS BUT HIS DEFENCE WAS STRONG, IN FACT EARLY ON A DOGS PLAYER RESENTED BEING SWAMPED BY HIS SMOTHERING HIT.

NOTHING MUCH TO RIDE HOME ABOUT FOR THE JETS.

NYC.....RTS HAD LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES BUT WAS NIMBLE AND MISTAKE FREE. HE STREAKED AWAY FOR THEIR FIRST TRY. JAKE FORRESTER REMINDS ME OF OWEN CRAIGIE IN BUILD. BLACKMAN GIVES GOOD BALL FROM DUMMY HALF & DEFENDED WELL. RONA DIDN'T TOUCH THE BALL MUCH BUT THE TWO TIMES I SAW HIM GET THE BALL HE PUT SOME FANCY STUFF ON WHICH LED TO TRIES.
LAST YEARS HM BOYS - SHAQ BLAIR & RHYSE MARTIN WENT WELL.

SG BALL HAVE SOME QUALITY FORWARDS.....LLOYD PERRETT IS HEADS & SHOULDERS, WILLIS MEEHAN & TOGITASI(? LAMA'S BROTHER) ARE VERY GOOD BALL PLAYERS, HOOKER DEITZ IS FAST & CLEVER AROUND THE RUCKS. DALLAS WELLS IS MUCH SIMILAR TO HIS BROTHER, CENTRES MILNE & ELLIOT ARE IMPRESSIVE, THEIR 5/8 & CAPT ALEX THOMAS WAS PROBABLY BEST ON THE FIELD. HIS CUT OUT PASSES WERE GOOD.

H.MATTS....LONG SEASON AHEAD UNFORTUNATELY. THEY GOT SMASHED 48-6 BY A MASSIVE MAINLY POLY OPPOSITION.

TOP DAY OUT THERE. HAPPY TO ELABORATE OR ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS.

                A journalist I am not.

Given that we had about 357 Islander boys playing for us in the teams today, most of whom looked alike in about 3 different types/groups/builds, the program was a big waste of time, several of our players wore the same numbers in some matches, my eyesight is not 20/20, and I'm not a super close follower of the lower grades, that's about the best I can do.

Who was the big no 18 Mose look alike in first grade?

And do you know who it was that smashed Morris when he came running thru the centre of the field?

                      Please.

As you say, with the number of changes and unknowns in both sides at times it was hard to tell who was who. We debated for most of the match whether Pearce was playing.

The first half was like they were running in treacle. It's likely that both sides would still be training solidly and wouldn't have tapered off in preparation for the game. So both teams looked pedestrian at times.

The second half started with more intensity and much more urgency. As the game went on the Roosters combinations seemed to get more cohesive and they seemed a tighter unit in defence. Mortimer went well, in fact, I thought at one point he had adopted Minichiello's mannerisms. Masoe had a strong game and in fact most of the forwards did. Mitchell looks sharp at the play the ball. Moga went ok, he was a handful whenever he handled the ball. He looks the goods, to make the transition into the NRL.

He's a monster, he got Goodwin with a "bell ringer" as well.
